Have a Michigan trip this summer and will be driving through Toledo, Ohio mid day on a Sunday.

Has anyone had any luck with reciprocals at Inverness? Looking like we’re going to have 3 guys making the drive while the others fly into Michigan.

The Ham & Egg is starting to come together and after only a week we’ve filled 28/36 spots. If you’re on the fence about signing up, make sure to snag one of those remaining 8 spots before they are gone!

Hope everyone winter is going well I’ve been avoiding signing up for any of our events because I’m trying to get back into the military. I’ve lost 34lbs since we had our matches in Pittsburgh and still need to lose a few more before I can get everything squared away and I don’t wanna be one of those guys that signs up and has to back out of an event. For any of the new guys in the roost get out and play any any of these that you can these are some of the best people I’ve met since being out of school you’ll have a good time I guarantee it. Hopefully I’ll be able to participate some this year.

First time poster…I have a group that does a JV-strapped trip every year. We all submit a city and vote on where that year will take us. This year we’re heading to Cincinnati. We generally play 3-4 rounds of golf and try to find the best (or a solid) muni course on our final day. We’ve definitely accepted that it’s ok to play on a nice course since it’s hard enough to get away from family/obligations, but also don’t try to play the most expensive course in town.

We’ll be there in June and would appreciate any course recommendations or must-eat/do places in and around the city.

Thanks!

Welcome!

The best muni you should play is Blue Ash Golf Course. It’s the best public course in the city IMO and is relatively centrally located, so it should work no matter where you stay.

For the other publics, especially on a Strapped style budget, I’d recommend Avon Fields (quirky, small course), AJ Jolly (Northern KY but closeish to Cincinnati), and Legendary Run (fun homage course, big ballpark, and typically in good condition).

If you want to stick with munis instead of general public, you can replace Legendary with Sharon Woods or The Vineyard depending on where you’re staying. If you want to bump up the budget a bit, you can do Stonelick and/or Elks Run.

Food wise, we all have plenty of recos, but those would greatly depend on the styles of food you guis prefer and where you’ll be staying.

Did a buddies trip to Cincinnati 3 years back. We did Elks Run, Legendary Run, and Stonelick Hills. All were great. Definitely worth the extra money for Stonelick Hills. We also had a great dinner at Ivory House. One of the best steaks I’ve had.

The discussion as to what’s Cincy’s “quintessential” muni would be a fun one

Other courses that are worth considering in Cincy:

Daily Fee
Hamilton Elks
Brown’s Run
Walden Pond

Muni
The Mill
Miami Whitewater
California
Glenview (27 holes)

As PJ said, food recs will be largely dependent on where in town you stay. Most of these courses can be easily paired with nearby breweries.

Since we’re talking Cincinnati, does someone have the recon on Cincinnati Country Club?

Haven’t been there since the reno, so YMMV now, but I played there a decent amount before.

It was really tight off the tee without a lot of driver opportunities. Tons of off balance lies on approach shots too. Greens were tough but not as bad as other clubs in the area.

Overall a fun course but not somewhere I’d want to play everyday.

From what I’ve heard, this was the main point of reno…though I’ve heard mixed opinions as to whether or not it achieved that goal, especially when people start seeing what Hyde Park was able to do.

I’m so curious because that club also has a fascinating membership and general vibe.

I can’t wait to see what they did at HPCC. I’ve heard really good things, which is exciting because that place should hit so much harder than it did pre-reno.
