It is alive.
Hey everybody, be safe with weather. Hope you guys are all prepared.
Woke up to wife saying we had no water pressure, so she was wondering if our pipes froze and/burst overnight. Was a ⦠frantic way to start the day.
Canāt recall ever being so excited to hear that a water main down the street had burst.
Special appreciation for the folks across the region making sure the rest of us stay warm, with utilities, and comfortable. Itās brutal out there.
Also thankful for the abundant staff at Kroger restocking shelves at 7:00am this morning after the hordes that had wiped them out the day prior, made sure to tell several of them they were appreciated!
Itās amazing how much a little gratitude helps with people who help. God knows they donāt get enough.
Howās everyone doing? Just got back inside after an hour of shoveling. We probably have close to 10 inches of snow here in New Albany. The teacher group chat is betting on home many days we actually go to school this week.
Have about 10 inches as well on the West side of Cleveland. Already made to 2 passes to clear.
I think weāre well over a foot here S. Dayton. Broke the snow blower on the first pass. Shoveled it out on the 2nd.
We have a little over a foot and the drifting is making it much more in spots.
I had carpal tunnel surgery less than two weeks ago - wife having to clear snow makes for an unhappy household
Never had a snowblower growing up in Buffalo. Man do I love our Greenworks 80 volt electric one. Iāve done the driveway three times in the last 24 hours. Little spot work with the shovel. Much more enjoyable experience in my older days.
My 75 year old father was out in that yesterday, cleaning off his driveway. I could have killed him
I would hope this year as @jgolf1 has it set for the 16th that we can see more people turn out. I know it was moved back a little last year and turnout was underwhelming which was disappointing to see. The first year I attended this event I think there were north of 60 people and last year it was sub 30.
Just saying that for the work put in for the event, and two NIT spots, Id hope that OATW can rally a little more to the cause and reward the effort.
Besides adding a second NIT spot, what else has changed? Itās still in May at the same course in the northwest corner of the state.
I plan on playing this year, but am very confident if you made it during the summer in the center of the state, a lot more guis would be there.
We had more guys show up to the Fropen, to play a frozen muni in the snow in February than showed up to No Findlaying up. Its a disservice to the work @jgolf1 does, thats the way I see it.
Its not a knock on anyone individually, I get that its a bit of a hike for some, and I get that its early (and some people are worried about their game being in shape, even though everyones playing at the same point of the season) but the lack of turnout for a roost with so many members is truly uninspiring.
Also, yeah if every event could be in the optimal location, at the optimal time, Im sure they would all be better attended.
And if every event was at a course that didnāt charge much for essentially all the golf we can play plus a meal, had someone willing to run/operate the whole thing, tried his best to navigate peopleās schedules, tried to make it enjoyable it would probably be huge. Until all of those things happen it might just stay at sycamore.
Thatās not the point. Doing the same thing year over year and expecting things to improve on their own is a foolās errand.
Iām totally with you that Iād love to see more people at events, but I just donāt see that changing for the major if itās the exact same every time. Those logistical hurdles for a majority of us donāt change.
Nobody is downplaying your effort; we truly appreciate it.
I was just trying to answer Danās callout about lack of attendance and what might be causing it.
Can I file for an absentee ballot round? Maybe play my quota round at sycamore that same week with an OATW member to witness it? I am very much not wanting to miss the event, but I also have an expense-paid work trip to Chicago on the table for that weekend that is really really hard to pass up, and Iām pulling my hair out trying to decide what to do
Donāt forget the after hours opportunity to witness @spicychimis and I flood the TouchTunes zone with Chapelle Roanās greatest hits (and assorted other singalong classics) in downtown Findlay.
Know itās not possible for all, but⦠Encourage folks to spend the night if theyāre able. Guessing Steve and I (at least) will be there the nights before and after again
Itās true, and I have the video to prove it
