@AZacOfAllTrades and I are playing our 2nd chance bracket match at 950a Sunday the 13th at Blue Ash, if anyone is interested in joining us. I booked 4 spots, will give them back to the course early this week if nobody is interested.
Indeed I did, like 2 years ago now.

Posted this on slack, but wanted to post here too. Iāve been thinking it would be nice to have a hang or spot that is semi regular. Give me your thoughts on this:
- Biweekly hang at Westerville golf center
- Something like 6ā8pm
- Come and hit balls, play range games, and hang out
- Good vibes only
- Would be cool to find hangs like this around the state if it gains traction
Man I hate that itās mats only there now.
agree 100%, but the I think atmosphere bodes well for a gathering here. Are there any other spots that we might be able to get to? Iāve never been to the golf depot in Gahanna, but I think it might be grass. Maybe Iāll check it out.
My thinking is this, if we find a spot we like maybe we could negotiate some deal to give us a deal on balls and let us congregate in a certain area of the range at certain times so we have the space we need and wouldnāt be spread out throughout the range.
Asking for some friends: four weeks out now - any updates on formation of our team?
What tees did you play? I heard the hype and played it last fall for the first time. Didnāt enjoy it much as the back tees just felt like continually teeing off out of a tree tunnel.
@pjsutherland and I are playing there on Sunday morning for the first time. Iāve been driving the ball well, but I donāt really like to hear the tee boxes described as tree tunnels
That place constantly kicks my butt, but I do enjoy it. I play it at least once a year. There are some tree tunnels and some tight areas for sure.
I will concur that there are a handful of tees that feel like youāre hitting out of a tunnel (6,500 from the tips on an old course). Iām guessing the back tees are relatively new.
But the condition of the tee boxes, fairways and greens are exceptional, especially considering the price with cart and free brecky.
They could stand to remove a few trees, but I would suggest a hybrid tee setup if youāre just going out there to have fun
I went back and looked at the spreadsheet from last year for our group, looks like will have to change the match play category. Since we did the pods first then bracket and this year we did straight bracket no pods. Not that big of a change Iād think same 10 points for participation and 2 point per match won on the winners side and 1 point per match won on the second chance side would be fair
I owe an updated order of merit. It has been a super busy summer, but I should have a list updated by the middle of next week.
I can help lean in here as well, if needed
Is it ok to just assume that if we see someone using this putter we are allowed to fight them for it?
Fellow Cincinnatians just moved here and getting settled, would love playing with you all, that being said what are the best courses to check out? Im seeing Devou Park is pretty popular, what else does the Queen City have to offer
Welcome! Would love to play any time and Iām sure @pjsutherland can be easily convinced, too!
Big fans of Blue Ash, Hickory Woods, Devou. Reeves for practice.
Only if you say āBANGā each time you punch them
Welcome! What area of town are you in now?
As @cstevens3407 said, Blue Ash is IMO the best public golf Cincinnati has to offer and itās not even close anymore.
A few other good ones in the area (including Northern Kentucky) are Stonelick Hills, Elks Run, AJ Jolly, Lassing Pointe, and Legendary Run.
I personally have a soft spot for Hickory Woods and The Grizzly, as I grew up on them and theyāre quality tracks. However, if youāre closer to downtown, Iād probably knock off a few of the others listed before checking those out.
If you want to get in the 30-60 minute window from Cincinnati, Iād add Shaker Run, Heatherwoode, Pipestone, and Belterra as the best options.
Awesome! Thanks, weāre in OTR on 15th st. I checked out little Miami a few days ago and itās a great little practice area, Iāll be sure to get out to a real course soon
Play Aston Oaks when I go home to see family. Seems like itās in good shape every time I go back and is a pretty good deal. Also great view of the Ohio on one of the holes.
If you want something gnarly check out Fernbank, and bring a helmet.
