Thanks for the tag to get me back in the thunderdome.

Someone once told me that Golf Digest rates courses on a 10 year cycle and that results in courses being sticky. List is about as far away from my personal preferences as it can get but I know that there’s a certain segment of the population that loves Muirfield Village. I’m not going to get in their way of being wrong.

I want to talk about Inverness though. I enjoy the course but the routing needs to be improved. Having the front 9 play the perimeter then the back 9 inside means the whole back 9 feels back and forth. Course would be much better if the routing on the front tied into the interior holes to break it up.

Well I don’t ever want to disagree with @schirmert who is very knowledgeable about GCA, but clearly I feel differently about the routing at Inverness. I understand the points made, but that routing allows for the best landforms to be used most effectively, in my humble opinion.

With the caveat that I’ve not played NEO golf yet, I think the top four of Inverness, Camargo, Moraine and Scioto is pretty clear in my mind. If anyone told me they thought one of those was the best or their favorite I’d understand why. Just depends on what one values.

I’d say the ā€œbestā€ course is one that is the best combination of challenging, interesting, fun and unique. Every person has a slightly different idea of what that is or which is most important in ranking a course.

Splitting hairs talking about some of these courses. My point is more order than the actual holes. Something like a revised routing where players would go from 5 to 15 then 12 to 6 would break up the current route

Also, i love that we are all having civilized discussion. Look at us go!

Also, someone get @ChasingScratch up to NEO for some golf

Yeah I agree with this. My own personal top 10 that I’ve played list definitely wouldn’t match up with any top 10 architectural lists but it’s based on things that matter the most to me, how fun the course is, could I play it every day and not get bored, course conditioning, etc.

Fellow member at SCC, they updated the site this morning with the tee sheet, and this is a pretty good summary of anyone you’d be interested in. Field looks locked in.

Do they usually publish the pin positions by chance? Night before perhaps?

I know you can grab them at the event at either the first or tenth tee. No one will look at you weird for just grabbing one, I promise.

I’m playing the next day with the same pin positions for the OATW event that’s why I was asking. I assume they might have extras on site.

Not to my knowledge. Perhaps the night before. Ill keep my eyes peeled.

Times posted for Monday at Kinsale for US Open Qualifier finals
I’ll be floating between the 8:10 group (to heckle) and the 8:20 group (to fist pump birdies)

I’ll be damned, Lanto Griffin isn’t playing for LIV!
