Please do. I’m probably playing there or Hillandale next weekend if this week’s rain isn’t too much.
For Raleigh folks: I’ve been playing River Ridge for close to 10-12 years and love it. Played Pine Hollow today for the first time right down the road and I’m furious it took me this long to find it and play it. Greens were fast and pure. Really a great course with a lot of shot variety. Credit to @Double_Bogey_Dave since I think he mentioned it here a little while ago and gave me the desire to try it out.
Yeah, @Just-a-little-right and I played there back in the fall and it was the first time I’d played there in about 15 years. I remembered it being good, but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
I was out and Pine Hollow today as well, for my 5th go at it since discovering it this year. I love the challenge it provides (makes you a way better putter and some hefty holes especially par 3s from the back tees) with also being one of the best walks you can find.
I was at River Ridge today. It was ok but agree pine hollow is better all around. Let’s get another group out there.
Hey guy I’m in Charlotte & bounced between getting fit for irons or look for lessons (I shoot in the 90s) and I’m deciding to give lessons a shot. I’m not a member anywhere to have access to a pro in that sense. Does anyone suggest somewhere to get a first lesson(s)? Any advice would help as I’ve haven’t had a lesson since age 12.
Check out Leatherman’s on Tyvola and Tryon.
I second Chris Leatherman over at Leatherman’s. A little more pricey but also check out Ballantyne Golf Academy. Great facility and instructors. I’ve spent some time with Doug Breuer over there and would recommend.
For Fitting, definitely go to Leatherman. They are the best in town.
Regarding lessons, if you don’t mind traveling a little bit, go see Marc LaPointe in Fort Mill/Springfield. I have been taking lessons from him for a year or so now and he has helped instrumentally. Voted as a Top 10 teacher in SC.
Anyone have any idea about what Leatherman’s charges for a driver fitting?
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere or if many ppl are already aware, but I just got the Golf Trail membership and it’s pretty cool. For NC residents in New Hanover, Columbus or Brunswick Counties, $60 for the year and then gives you discounted rates at a variety of courses in NC and SC. I know Thistle, Glen Dornach and Carolina National participate as well as a bunch of others. I think residents of a few counties in SC are eligible too, just don’t know the specifics offhand.
Edge just let me know whenever me or taffy come into town! We will take you out to a few tracks. We can go about anywhere in the Winston-Salem Area…weather permitting.
Hopefully I’m not flooding this thread but I played Glen Dornach today. Got a lot of rain last night so it was soggy and the course a whole was just in Ok shape. Fairways were soggy but green, and the greens were in rough shape on some holes. Can’t complain too much though with the weather recently.
Anyone getting out in the Triangle or Sandhills this weekend?
Love GD. Getting back down there as part of buddies trip in May.
I can play Sunday @raleighdawg
Was thinking either Pine Hollow or going down to SPGC @Just-a-little-right
I’m up for Pine Hollow. Weather looks chefs kiss in the afternoon if that’s good for you. If not I can do early. Can we get a 4-some? Anyone else?
PH has some noon-ish times on Sunday.
Good with me. Do you want to call in the morning to get the walking rate?
@ATLtoRDU33 @Double_Bogey_Dave @snaphooked @Swing_hard_and_hope anyone want in on Pine Hollow sunday around noon?
