Don’t listen to these people, there’s plenty of good food round that way. What are you looking for and what time of day?
It’ll be for dinner tonight. Don’t really have much preference, maybe a place with a decent bar to put down a couple cold domestics or non domestics afterwards.
Around the airport
Tutta di Gio: I haven’t been, but people love this spot. Classic italian food. Always pops up on recs.
Nadeen’s: Good southern cooking.
The Lost Paddy: Irish pub. Good Guinness, good fish, and good corned beef. In a weird spot, though.
Sindoore: Standard Indian joint
Homegrown Taproom & Kitchen: Haven’t been, but it gets a lot of love.
Around Opryland
Vega shawarma: Fast casual type joint with excellent falafel and fries. On the pricier side, but the food is good.
Shotgun Willies: Best BBQ in Nashville. Texas style. Brisket is excellent, and try the beef ribs if they have them. Only open for lunch.
Mr Aarons Goods: Best bagel in town. Good breakfast pick.
Scoreboard: Decent sportsbar
Daddy Dogs: Chain hotdog joint. Not bad. Fast casual.
Pinky Ring Pizza: Excellent pizza.
Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge: If you’re looking for a late night spot to listen to music, this is the best one in town.
If you’re willing to venture more into East Nashville, which technically is between the airport and Opry Mills, there’s endless good options.
I might as well recommend some spots in East Nashville for you
Spicy Boys: like 10ish minutes from Opry Mills. Great bar, good cajun food, and massive servings. I highly recommend enjoying a frozen painkiller.
Dino’s: Dive Bar in East Nashville with a great take on an Animal Style burger. Very messy.
The Wash: Former car wash turned food court situation. Has the following spots. You have to eat outside here.
- SS Gai: Best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Gotta get the fried mango sticky rice if you go here, too.
- Soy Cubano: Good Cuban food with excellent yuca.
- East Side Pho: Standard pho joint. it’s good.
- Sweeza: Quesadilla spot. The cheesesteak quesadilla is really good.
Smith and Lentz: Best brewery in town, and their pizza might be better than their beer.
Frankie’s: Italian spot. Good pizza joint on one side and a good actual restaurant on the other.
Shulman’s: A bar, but they have good food.
If we’re including East Nashville in this as well, I’ll throw out Redheaded Stranger. Awesome tacos and a highly underrated burger.
Best burger in Nashville. Doesn’t seem to fit the bill of “decent bar to put down a couple cold domestics or non domestics afterwards” imo, but excellent food.
Oh, Skinny Dennis is a cool bar with a texas/western theme in East Nashville, too. There will be live music most likely. I believe they’re doing BBQ on Wednesdays in July.
No update? Gonna leave us hanging?
Unfortunately had a flight delay and didn’t get settled at my hotel as soon as I’d anticipated so I completely missed my window lol. I might be able to sneak out for lunch tomorrow and will update if I do.
tough development. I forgot to add, if eating at the mall avoid Chuy’s and the Cheesecake Factory. Suprisingly, the Rainforrest Cafe is decent.
Anyone played Eastland Green up near Clarksville? Drove by it on the interstate and hadn’t heard of it before but it’s sorta close to my house so I’d like to check it out soon
I played it a few times coming out of the pandemic… If you play it and expect any sort of architectural integrity, you will be disappointed. If you play it and expect the greens to be pure and true, you will be disappointed. If you play it and just want to hit golf shots, it can actually be a ton of fun.
Pretty much what I thought. Thanks for the insight. Think it might be a good option for an after work 9
I have four passes to Sweeten Cove for this Sunday, August 3. Due to unexpected family circumstances, we are unable to make it. Let me know by Friday if you’re interested, otherwise I will release them.
Can’t help but laugh at the contrast between Music City Golf and Mike’s in Chattanooga on the new Range Pickers episode. Glad the bleakness of the golf scene in Nashville is getting some publicity.
Anyone know what the walk up policy at Harpeth Hills is a single? Trying to get out somewhere tomorrow morning, and they aren’t picking up the phone as per usual.
I know its past due, but for future reference, I’ve always been able to get on a Nashville Muni when I’ve showed up unless its a tournament. I’ve called and they’ll say no. I show up and they say they’ll try to get me on. Have a had to wait an hour before? yes
Unrelated, but I loved pre-renovation Percy, where if you showed up at 5 on a weekday, the attendant would say “ah I just shut down the card reader”. Once you said you didn’t have any cash (fiat? in this age??) he’d say “okay, just pay double next time.”
I was living in Atlanta at the time, but was back in town and doing this frequently enough, there’s no way the guy didn’t recognize me. And yet, we did this charade every single time.
I’ve successfully pulled this stunt a few times post reno. Golden hour Percy is special
Flying into Nashville and down to sweetens next Monday…… looking for a place
To play on Monday, suggestions?
Sewanee will be on the way, effectively. I dunno if you even need another rec, tbh
