Exactly! Hahaha, I was running a little hot after 5 putting 6 the last time I played (left it front right to a back left pin). I kept telling myself smooth swing until the top of my back swing when Leroy Jenkins took over and I put one in the field.
I know cart is included, but is Legacy walkable? Any push carts available?
I don’t think they have any available. I wouldn’t say it is super hilly and could probably be walked. There are only a few extended green to tee walks (2-3, 4-5, 9-10, 11-12)
Good to know. Realizing I’m not going to be coming in with the best preparation, looking at our group’s itinerary, I might as well drive a cart.
It’s not a bad walk. The last couple of holes are uphill but the rest is pretty flat. Only local knowledge I would give you is when you walk off 5 green, it’s right next to 6 green so leave your bag by the green and just take a couple clubs to the 6th tee. It’ll save you an uphill tote. If you’re playing on the wkend tho, they typically don’t allow walking until after lunch.
Hey all, been a minute since I’ve been in the refuge. Looking forward to better weather, more golf, and to #getinvolved again.
Have a birthday coming up, and my wife and I want to plan a weekend golf trip. Looking for a short-ish flight or road trip. Ideally want to find an architecturally interesting course(s) to play in a warm area with good food/drink and some off-course activity options nearby (beach, hiking, art, etc).
What trips have you done or do you want to that would be semi-affordable out of Nashville? Maybe something in the $500-1000 range (not a hard cap necessarily) for both of us over three-ish days?
You could choose your own adventure in a loop of these cities. I’ve played some but not all of these courses, if anybody feels strongly about courses in these cities please weigh in.

If you want a beach, Kiva Dunes is a 7 hour drive with lots of golf on the way to and from or Hilton Head for nearby Savannah’s art scene.
Another trip option could be Mossy Oak with the Muscle Shoals courses on the way.
Played a scramble there years ago…need to go again. Was a pretty fun track from what I can remember.
Played Park Mammoth for the first time today.
What an awesome course. Playing it for the first time with a 15mph wind was brutal, particularly while forgetting how to chip or hit irons. Overall though it was great, my dad made the trip and really liked it as well. The greens have some serious movement. I loved the openness off the tee, felt like a tour pro hitting that many fairways.
Everyone must officially be getting the clubs out, because courses are slooooow. In the past month, I’ve played 2 rounds at Towhee that were both 5 hour rounds, a 3 hour nine at Teddy on a Thursday afternoon, and a 5 hour round at Indian Hills yesterday. The most enjoyable golf experience I’ve had was a 2 hour round at Riverside when it was a lake.
I know pace of play has been a problem since the dawn of time, but I need some course out there to lay down the law and start cracking skulls. I’m not a Franklin Bridge guy because it’s so damn expensive, but credit where credit is due, a marshal was out there policing last time I played and we got around in 4 hours.
I got very lucky today, maybe because I was in Murfreesboro, but played Cedar Crest in 3:15. Easily sub 3 if the group in front of us let us go 2 holes earlier. Cant wait for things to really ramp up all over the place
Shelby is closed for renovations, Percy Warner is (still) closed for renovations, Hillwood Country Club is re-grassing and closed, Twelve Stones is in terrible shape, etc. I realize Towhee and Shelby’s clientele are likely very different but I think it all has a knock on effect.
Played some twilight golf at Teddy yesterday. Teed off at 4:30 for a two-hour round. When I got to 5, there were about 20 people waiting on the first tee. Nashville is a tough scene these days.
Heading to Park Mammoth this weekend to escape the city.
Saturday!
My wife and I are down!
Awesome! Looking forward to it
Hey Nashville, I’ll be in Murfreesboro next weekend and looking to play Friday morning and maybe Saturday morning.
Any good recommendations?
Old Fort is the general go to for the Murfreesboro area… a really solid muni that hosted some USGA qualifiers the past couple years
I have to take a minute to call this out… This is the refuge at its best, IMO. It was a true pleasure to meet @TristenJames and his wife today — great folks that I may not have met without this space. Cheers, y’all
Looks like they’re closed for greens renovations.
Pics look good though. Hopefully next time I can check it out.
