Roll Call: Nashville (Spring Match Play Post 1430)

I took an unfortunate fall this morning and won’t be able to compete in the High Cotton Club’s holiday celebration tomorrow at The Little Course at Conner Lane. Tee times begin at 12, includes two loops, and some great prizes if anyone is interested in filling the spot.

Going to Sweetens Saturday and have a spot open if anyone wants to join. Pending weather

Hey everyone, new to the board.

Welcome to the show!

Y’all safe up there?

Almost everyone has checked in so far, still waiting to hear from a few buddies but I’m sure they’re just having phone issues.

If anyone needs assistance, I’m out and about with a chainsaw, tarps, and blankets.

Safe here. We’re in East just before Inglewood, never got too crazy. We were in Germantown in 2020 though, and wooooh boy.

Hey Nashvillians - I’ll be in town this upcoming weekend for a NYE wedding (cool not cool). My wifes in the bridal party so I have a decent chunk of free time on 12/30.

Do yall have snow on the ground and are there any courses yall recommend I could jump on? Staying downtown on 4th and Korean Vet Blvd

Thanks!

Well it’s was about 60 degrees on Christmas. No worries about snow, weather looks to be getting worse though.

I’d recommend Gaylord Springs or Hermitage. Two Rivers is a solid muni, but it’s a muni. Those would be your closest options.

Visiting the weekend of March 22 for what will probably be my only trip away from Minnesota until our season starts in the spring. Traveling without family, there for a friend’s 40th birthday, and would love to play as early as possible Saturday 3/23 morning. Besides combing the public golf scene or re-listening to the recent Fried Egg episode about courses in Nashville, Any stretch places I should look at talking to my pro about trying to get on at?

Looks like we’re staying in North Nashville.

Depending on how far into North Nashville, Tennessee Grassland’s Foxland Course is phenomenal. If your pro can’t get you on (I’m sure they’d accommodate), HCC can likely pull the necessary strings.

I’m also partial to Legacy – even though it’s a semi-private, city owned course about 25 minutes north of downtown – as opposed to some of the munis around town, but I’m in somewhat of a minority with how lowly I view our muni system (my opinion has worsened since TFE episode)

The Seventh Edition of The High Cotton Classic returns to a singles match play format, where competitors have 16 days to schedule and play each match.

In addition to contributions to the prize purse and High Cotton Relief Fund, each competitor will receive the following as part of the event…

  • HCC 7 x Dome hat
  • HCC 7 T-shirt
  • HCC 7 x Handcrafted Golf Putter Cover
  • HCC 7 x Sunfish Drinkware
  • Gift box from Buckeye Bag Tags

The field will be split into 8 groups of 4, with these groups competing in a round robin format at 75% handicaps, which are locked in at the beginning of Group Play. The highest points earners after the Group Play stage will earn a payout for winning the group and advance to the Quarterfinals of Knockout Play, where handicaps will be reset for before each round of the Knockout Stage. Both players in the Finals match will be eligible for Calcutta winnings and receive payouts from the prize purse.

As part of entering The High Cotton Classic, competitors will receive an invitation, alongside competitors from Alabama’s Edition and The Eighth Edition in the fall, to The Grissom Cup in August 2024. The Grissom Cup, originally The High Cotton Cup, is a two day modified Ryder Cup style event where two captains are elected by the field before drafting their teams. Renamed in honor and memory of Seth Grissom, The Grissom Cup directly benefits the Grissom family.

Included in the link to register is the full schedule for The Seventh Edition of The High Cotton Classic and more. Please do not hesitate to reach out to 6 with any questions.
