I need to get an official handicap. Any tips/advice on where to do that in Nashville? I am not a member anywhere.
I just joined the Refuge. A Refugee on Twitter told me about it. I just found NLU recently and I love what they are doing. I live in Franklin. Looking forward to making some new golf contacts.
I believe if you join the TGA, they will provide a handicap for you. @littleCoreyPavin may know for sure though.
Yeah that’s how I got mine and track it on the USGA GHIN app
Played KC many times. Pretty decent layout. I hate they have been through so many owners. It is always the 4th or 5th one that makes it work… Hope it works out!
Can confirm if you join the TGA they will provide a GHIN number. Fairly fast also. Just put your Home course as a place you play often. That will affect your handicap if you play there often as opposed to other courses you may play.
Please correct me if I’m wrong on that
Folks!
Tossing around a legitimate match play for the Middle TN area. I’m thinking a 16 player field seeded by GHIN handicaps. In college, we had 2 weeks to set and play the match with our opponent and report the results to the tournament director. I was thinking something like that would work well for those of us with busy schedules or who can’t play 72 holes in 2 days. I’m open to suggestions for the buy in, I’ve had $50 suggested which would lead to an $800 purse. Could be $800 for the winner or $500, $200, $100. Would love to hear any feedback and hope y’all have some interest.
Cheers, crack on!
I would be down for this. What courses are you thinking? Handicapped match play?
Very interesting…I have a buddy or two who would be interested as well if we needed to fill spots.
Can I host the B-Flight where the buy-in is $5 and a pack of lance peanut butter crackers?
Gentlemen, appreciate the response… Between the response here and elsewhere… the tournament WILL be happening. Possibly the High Cotton Classic?
I want to be fair to everyone in the field, so I want to avoid dictating terms that players aren’t keen on. Right now, I’m up for any suggestions or amendments, but here’s the plan.
$75/player will yield a $1,200 pot… I’m taking dolla dolla bills, y’all. 1st place will receive 10x their entry fee as prize: $750. Second place will receive $300, and third would get double their money back at $150.
*If everyone agreed, I would love to take a portion of the pool for a trophy, would be a cool keepsake for what I hope is a recurring and growing event.
Once the field is set, I’ll seed the bracket according to handicap on that date. I know handicaps shift, but handicaps will be locked in on the date of the seeding for the entirety of the event. I’ll be fully transparent on the bracket as to what everyone’s handicap is so the matches can be properly handicapped.
Each match will have 2 weeks to make contact with their opponent, agree to a time and location of their match, complete their match, and report the results. I’ll make a group email so everyone has contact information for their opponent’s. I implore people to schedule their matches as early as possible due to weather concerns and general life happening. I would hate for any of these matches to end in forfeits, or have to be extended into the next time period. We should do whatever we can to avoid that.
*If all matches are completed before the 2 weeks, we can speed the process up, but I want to give adequate time to those who work or have family obligations.
I’m thinking we can start this next week and be wrapped up at the beginning of August… just in time to run it back for the fall? Let me know what y’all think. Thanks again for your interest and feedback. Let’s have some fun!
If there is still room would love to get involved!
Absolutely there is! Anyone who is interested, just email your handicap to chendrickson2014@gmail.com. We currently have 4 spots filled, 12 remaining!
Not sure if I fully addressed this, but yes it would be handicapped match play. Personally, I don’t like it. I want to go mano y mano straight up, but I felt like it was the only fair way to get people involved. I was certainly afraid to have this seen as an elite competition for the best players around, so I wanted to make sure 6+ handicaps feel like they have a real chance to win the money.
Like I said, I’m trying my best to be fair to everyone involved, but provide a fun event for the area that we seem to be lacking currently. Y’all may be aware of more events than I am, but most things seem to be private club/member only/good ol boy events. I’m not trying to get this as an official NLU event/NIT qualifier (yet ), but certainly want it to be an event for anyone and everyone in Middle TN. I posted it to a Facebook group and my personal IG and have had positive feedback from everywhere so far, so I’m hopeful and thankful for your interest and feedback.
Hey Fellas and Gals,
Me and @tedscott will be playing greystone on Sunday if anyone wants to join us at 2:50.
looks like we have three at the moment
Tsar,
That sounds delightful, but I’ll be playing down at Horton. Next time!
Played Horton today.
Preeeeeeeeeeeeeemo. It truly is the gold standard of greens in the public mid-state.
Still space for another?
Sweetens has some passes available for Thursday and Friday. Anyone want to meet up? I’m available either day.
Sorry I’m just now seeing this. We filled up a little over a week ago and just got everyone paid. If you want to go ahead and shoot me an email with your GHIN, I’ll put you on the list for the next one that will start beginning of September.
