Edinburgh is an enigma. It’s not horrendous but it isn’t all that fun… but some holes are fun but some are the worst.
17 is 1st team all yuck club

Can you include a 9 hole course? Orono GC, it seems like you are hitting over a big ravine on every tee and then your approach shot is always on a massive uphill lie. Even though it’s cheap, I wouldn’t play it again.
Definitely support having Whitebirch on the list because the value is not good. Front nine is old and boring but the back is definitely okay. But I always end up playing it on the weekend for like $65, which is ridiculous for the course.
Anyone want to hear a first hand witness account of the championship match at last years NSS?
I have played neither. Wtf is wrong with me. I’ve lived in this state for 30 years.
maybe my hottest take is that Hiawatha doesn’t stink entirely. Is it a bad course in horrible condition? Absolutely! But is it the only public course to serve south Minneapolis? Absolutely! I have a friend who lives in South Minneapolis and if Hiawatha ever closes, the next closest course is Braemar or Highland but both of them are not really a straight forward drive or short drives (time wise) given traffic. Two things you don’t want to deal with if you want to just hit some balls or roll some putts. So it is a bad course but I think it is a necessary course
Hello everybody! I have long listened to NLU peeps on the podcast and watched all the videos. I just recently perused and read through the thread and have finally been compelled to join and comment.
This isn’t really a hot take. It’s spot on! It’s a terribly conditioned course, but when my wife and I moved back home from DC, we lived in richfield for a few years. I played Hiawatha quite a bit. The course selection was tough there. Plus Braemar was closed down when I was out there and that made it even worse. I had grown up in St. Paul so all my knowledge of public tracks was based on a completely different area. I would throw a six pack in my bag and walk on and play with friends who also lived in S. MPLS or got paired up. It was basically hitting some balls and having happy hour outside. Odd as it may seem, I loved it. Now I’m back in the east metro as of a year and change ago and have a completely different dilemma.
I’m simultaneously negotiating the purchase of new irons with my Treasury Secretary
But will they be blades? #YearOfTheBlade
Oak Glen is awful
You’re mean
It is kind of a bad course, but it’s usually conditioned very well and is dirt cheap
Idk about awful but it isn’t my first choice that’s for sure
Les Bolstad
-Silly routing, especially with new remodel.
-Expensive for what you get
-Greens wildly inconsistent
-Somehow manage to have both fried dried out grass in one area while being flooded on same hole
-Immense potential to have a sick, old school club house that they refuse to change
-Large range/practice area though, so it’s got that going for it, which is nice
That is true, and i have only played the course a few times, but off hand.
#3 when they put the tees back is a blind like 90 yard wedge shot 50 feet down hill. Reminds me of that weird hole at St. Croix National.
#4 and really my issues start here, are that a majority of the holes the fairway is only a few steps from a fence/house. On 4 if you miss the right side of the green by a foot or two it kicks into a fenced backyard that is maybe 10 feet from the green. I am also 3 for 3 of a woman being out there gardening and i fear for her life.
#10 probably belongs in the yuck club as you have to hit a tiny piece of fairway to have a shot at the green and you cant go short (trees block the green), long (water), left (water), or right (driving range).
The rest of the course meanders through residentials which is just not my vibe. There are a few fun holes out there so i get your point.
10 at Oak Glen would be my #10 at my personal Yuck Club. One of the worst golf holes ever designed.
16, the par 3, is flirting as well. If the wind is up it’s damn near impossible.
This does not narrow it down haha
I feel like people would absolutely slander my beloved SCN for this bracket… Luckily, it resides safely in Wisconsin, away from you heathens who may try to drag their good name through the muck
Like that little goat track
I knew this one was coming
I feel a little better knowing that I’ve still got at least 2 more losses to go in order to reach your impressive feats though.
I will be real, as someone who has spent time both here and in Iowa, I always get Oak Glen and Glen Oaks confused. (Only a few people will know what I am talking about here)
Bro, what? This is a glaring hole, especially with your list of courses played.
This is the correct take.
