Bingo. My favorite course in MN. Unfortunately I didn’t get to play it today, just got to look.
The MGA event there in June was cancelled
god I need to play there this INSTANT
@GRWhitehead and I played the final match in the first round of the tournament this afternoon. @SBST joined us for the front nine. I immediately was reminded that I’m a total scum bag as my opponent presented me with a gift of a bottle of his vodka on the first tee! I however, brought nothing as an offering. We played out at Keller and I was getting 7 strokes and I needed all of them. We finished the front nine all square only because the three holes I was getting a stroke, that stroke saved me from losing the hole. The back nine continued with more of the same as we remained all square thru 11. This is where things started moving VERY quickly for me! I lost 12, 13 and 14 to go 3 down with 4 to play. A win for me on 15 extended the match, but the superior player was able to successfully navigate the 16th hole and get the win. @GRWhitehead wins 3 up. It was such a fun experience. My first refuge related event and I can’t wait for the next one. My opponent was such a great dude and a real pleasure to walk with. @SBST wish we could have had you for the back nine as well! Thank you all for letting me be a part of this. I may have lost the match, but I’m enjoying a free vodka/lemonade/7Up right now, so really, who was the real winner today? You be the judge!
We dodged the rain. Wow
I will echo that it was a wonderful match against a relentless opponent. My driver game was off but the short game showed up. Needed everything I had to fend him off. We will play again for sure. It’s an absolute DOWNPOUR OUT THERE NOW. God shines on good people and Luke and Mack are two of them.
Got to play 36 at The Classic today. My girlfriend is a twin cities sales rep for them and had to be onsite today, so I got hooked up with a crazy good deal. She got to play the first nine with me, then I finished the other 27 by myself. What a course! #4 is an all timer out there. Birdied it the second go around after a nukey boy 5 iron to 15 feet. Had off and on rain throughout most of the day, which meant I really had the place to myself. Apart from a couple foursomes on the last few holes of the day, I barely saw anyone else. Can’t wait to head back throughout the summer when it’s playing fast and firm.
Congratulations to all of our winners that have advanced to the Siiiiiiiiiiiick Sixteen (and before the deadline no less). Your next round of matches needs to be completed no later than Sunday, June 21st. As always, the participants are responsible for lining up the time and place for their contest.
The march to Keller continues!
#4 is so good and getting that place to yourself is such a treat. Not a bad Tuesday!
Well, did he make the putt?
No, no he did not. WE HAD FUN TODAY. THAT’S ALL.
Bless you for catching literally my only good swing of the day! Hahahaha.
Saw this thread sometime last year, but took me ‘til now to join the Refuge! Great to see so much walking match play going on, bummed I missed out on the road to Keller for this year. Hoping to play weekday golf with others that understand binge watching amateur golfers I don’t know on YouTube. I mainly play in the west metro (Chaska, Pioneer, Edinburgh, Braemar), but will go anywhere.
Give me a shout if anyone needs an extra…
You can still sign up to play at the shootout if you haven’t already. Shout out @BaxterMSP
The one weekend I can’t make work, the weekend I get to play private club golf at invitational I probably don’t deserve - we haven’t advanced from round robin phase in the 5 years I’ve been there. Normally in June but rescheduled because COVID. Unsure if it’ll actually happen, so will join you guys if it doesn’t.
Anyone want to play next week on a weekday morning? Playing Chaska Thursday but could do another round another day. Weather looks full on summer.
Played a twilight 9 out at Victory Links last night. Don’t see it get a ton of love but it’s great course. Some long walks between some holes but it’s flat and an easy walk. Good mix of holes, some real challenging par 4s and some gettable 5s. Greens are usually in great shape. Right now it’s a little shaggy, must have a thin crew out there. And I do dare to say it, but I enjoy playing it more than Keller…
I really enjoy victory links. especially the back to back par3’s which can boost the confidence after a shaky first couple holes.(if that happens to you…) I have never walked it, as there are some serious jaunts between 17 & 18 and to the first tee from the clubhouse. Victory was a qualifier for the 3m across the road, played during those conditties…WOOF
Best part? no overzealous rangers.
