Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

Blowing up the FF23 talk for a quick story. Maybe the worst golf etiquette I have experienced and at Keller of all places around here. - Was not going to post it in this thread but weeks later and I still think about it.

Couple of weeks ago friends and I had a 5:30 tee time at Keller Chasing daylight. No expectations, we were just trying to get 9 in. Group ahead of us was a guy and two women (all in carts) who clearly did not play golf very often. While they were not very good players, they were playing fairly fast and kept up with the group ahead of them. We are on the first green when literally out of nowhere 3 guys (all on carts) drove up from the tee box to the green and asked ā€œHey can we play through you guys?ā€

My buddy handled it so well, basically said ā€œhey look the group ahead of us is still on the tee box. No you canā€™t because you arenā€™t going anywhereā€ (you can see the second tee box from the green, literally the group ahead of us hasnā€™t teed off yet) and these guys dug in. Called us stupid because we didnā€™t understand that they were on carts so they would get out of our way and play faster than us. Keep in mind this is on the first green and as far as we can see, the course is entirely full on the front nine.

Elevates to them yelling but we held our ground calmly. End with them saying ā€œWell you do not have the ability to say I canā€™t play through but I wonā€™t do it. But you are wrong!ā€ - We found out these knuckleheads were the 5:40 tee time! Rest of the round they hit into us and were intentionally driving into our fairway when we were teeing off in front of them (like from 5 fairway in front of the tee on 6, things like that).

Probably did a bad job of setting the scene and truly articulating how big these pieces of shit were but what the heck man?!? - Not one thing those guys did was right. Trying to play through on an entirely full golf course, hitting into us and screaming at us calling us stupid, everything was just disgusting. Weirdly, probably not a golf issue, I think all of these things say something about those guys as people and not just them as golfers.

TLDR: You should need a license to get on a golf course

The balls on these guys to try to play through on the first hole is wild to me. Then obviously they crest the green on 1 to 2 tee and can probably see 10 groups on the course from there, but continue to be assholes. Fuuuuuuck those guys. Just total egotistical dipshits who think they understand the unwritten rules of golf.

The pervasiveness of the ā€œcarts are faster than walkersā€ is still wild.

Maybe the precedent @OffTheDole is trying to set runs deeper than we thinkā€¦

Ill be in Minneapolis in a couple of weeks for a business trip. Is there weather still good enough to bring clubs along? Where do I need to play if I get some afternoons free? Thank you,Chris

Weatherā€™s still good, but itā€™ll definitely be pants and vest golf.

Would recommend Stoneridge, Keller, Pioneer Creek, Braemar, and Iā€™m sure others will shout a few more out.

A certain omission here is the death of a great long standing bit. RIP

However my only good day this week is this:

Playing Les Bolstad is too great a privilege for an out of towner on a business trip (no offense, @BlueSmoke)

Inverwood? Iā€™m staying at the Omni and it looked like the closest place.

I am an Inverwood Defender. People on this board, not so much - Make sure you book your reservation at Kyndred Hearth now! Great place attached to the Omni

Iā€™m with you, Inverwood is a fun track. But Iā€™ll never walk it again.

Inverwood isā€¦ fine. For an out of towner, though, Iā€™d recommend biting the bullet on the 25 minute Uber and make the trek to Stoneridge.

Troy Burne just across the border in Hudson (~30 min from Eagan) is dropping to fall prices next week ($73 to walk, $95 to ride)

I think I still have some adjusting to do with Midwestern humor
so is the Stoneridge and Les Bolstad the must plays? Possibly,Troy Burne? I have a rental car if that matters

There is only one must play on this list.

Suspending the bit, Les Bols is a must skip. Don't go there

You can find good golf anywhere. Stoneridge and Troy Burne are allegedly that. But if youā€™re looking for vibes my gui, Les Bolstad is the spot.
