What are your favorite stay-and-play spots in Minnesota/Western WI/Northern IA? I’m in charge of planning a short getaway next year and I’m looking for a low-key, value situation, preferably with lodging on property.
Dakota Ridge is likely the best value in the state and our go to, but I’d love some additional ideas.
It’s not as good as Dacotah Ridge, but Larchwood, IA isn’t bad. Casino course also designed by Rees Jones. It’s in Iowa so they have sports betting at the casino if anyone in the group is into that.
Fortune Bay Casino up in Tower is great if you don’t mind a further drive. The Wilderness is a real fun course (although around $100 greens fees so value is TBD) and you’re 30 min from The Quarry and The Legend @ Giants Ridge. Plus great fishing, hiking, etc. around Lake Vermillion.
