Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

Are you signed up for the match play @ahrensgody ?

To be honest, I’d love to but I live 3 hours from Metro and trying to find weekends to buzz up and get matches in sounds like a nightmare. Would hate to sign up and then have to just forfeit.

Very much so

Team Europe is more about vibes than a strict script. That said, red is forbidden. Dress to impress (kind of).

I will be going gray joggers (had to buy some since I got FLAMED for wearing shorts last time), a gray quartzip, navy vest, and navy hat.

Assumed so, but didn’t know for sure to call his bullshit. Good to know!

Yeah. My guess is he’s confusing his pro being able to call the WBYC pro once a year and getting him on with reciprocity.

That or he’s full of shit and just trying to seem like a big deal. Dellwood might…might…have reciprocity with Cloquet Country Club but that’s about it

Yeah, and I may be putting some words in his mouth too. My father in law knows WBYC is on my bucket list, and he knows a guy at Dellwood who keeps telling my FIL that he could get us on. So I maybe put it incorrectly, but yeah.

Not knowing any context…tons of Dellwood guys know WBYC guys and vice versa. My guess is he probably knows a member at WBYC that might be willing to host

Ironically both courses are known for their land movement. WBYC for its rumpled nature and micro-contours, and Dellwood because…well the land fucking moves when you step on it.

Yeah, this is probably likely. I’ve never spoken to this person myself about it. My father in law just brings it up every summer but never actually attempts to make it happen haha

Call out those slackers from last year’s bracket!!!

I got a little preview of the DNR’s plan for limiting future water-use as a result of the White Bear Lake lawsuit settlement, that the court mandated they prepare. Lets just say any member at either of those two courses that was part of the lawsuit should be thrown the fuck out based on the potential shit-show that might be coming as a result of it. Hope both of the courses are down with the brown, because there isn’t going to be any water to use for irrigation if the plan is implemented by the judge.

As a bit of cliff note’s background, when the Judge sided with the WBL homeowners she required the DNR to prepare a plan for limiting the impact to the lake in the future. The DNR has finally prepared this plan and has submitted it to the judge per her original order. I believe it now rests with her to decide to implement it. I have to believe there is no way the plan gets implemented given how draconian the cuts to water use in the whole east metro area would need to be in order to meet the requirements of the plan, but I gave up on expecting reasonable behavior from government a long time ago.

While I don’t think the plan as a whole will be implemented, I could see some of the easier components being put in place regarding limitations on wells and use of City water for irrigation, neither of which would bode well for a golf course.

Going to be interesting to see how everything shakes out, a number of the local cities are trying to work with the legislature to get some of the existing laws changed to try and short circuit the whole situation, which would thankfully take the power out of single person’s hands, because as it stands right now it all rests with a single activist judge.

Time to run that big pipe from the Mighty Mississippi over to the east metro

In defense of my (our) hitter @SDykhoff42, he can’t play in the Shootout so feels as if he would be taking a spot from someone else

In hindsight he may have said that already. Still, for shame

That ain’t cheap either.

The whole thing couldn’t be more ridiculous. The lake did the same thing temporarily back in the 80’s, only to bounce back. Hell, the lake was back to record high levels two years ago and was actually having to be drained.

I think the plan the DNR crafted is essentially an FU to the judge, because it is so preposterous in its recommendations. For example if Hugo is required to meet its assigned water-use level based on the plan, we would need to cut 40% of our existing water usage, which would require cutting of all water use to every non-residential property in the City.
