Roll Call: Minn3sota / North Star United - SIM SZN

:partycage: :partycage: :partycage:

Attention @NorthStarUnited

I have several announcements for everyone today, so please bear with me.

First: NSS5 t-shirt orders close this Friday, 8/23 and we still need a few to make the minimum! Remember to Venmo me $39 for the shirt. (@nickmoryn)

Second: We have a unique opportunity with Titleist that requires quick action - as has been teased/rumored, we are rolling out a new Roost logo at the NSS. Our friends at Acushnet have offered us custom logo balls at $65/dz featuring this new logo. We need to submit the bulk order - you guessed it - this Friday, 8/23 with a minimum of 6 dozen per model. They are going to ship the balls directly to Keller for the NSS and I will pay Keller, so I need anyone interested to pay me directly (Venmo) $65 / dozen and indicate the ball they want. They’re only offering ProV1, ProV1x, and -ProV1x (left dash) for this go around. Sign up here:

Third (and final): WE WANT YOU :point_right: to play in the North Star Shootout. As of this writing, only 30 of the 60 names on the Unofficial Spreadsheet are signed up in Unknown Golf. Frankly, we’re about half way to where we want to be with signups with only 3 weeks to go. Don’t wait, sign up now. Tell all your friends.

As a reminder, $25 due to me (again, Venmo, @nickmoryn) to hold your spot, final payment will be due to Keller and dependent on numbers. Let’s get to 72 and have ourselves a day.

Edit: I lied - there’s one more thing: Let’s get the raffle going in earnest. Only 3 of us have donated as of this post and if there’s one thing I know about this community, it’s that we raise a shit ton of money for charity. The last two years we did over $3,000 in the raffle, and we’re sitting at $125 right now. Donate by going to childrenscancer.org and send me the screenshot of your receipt.

How big of a walk would Wildflower be? Place looks very cool.

Having never been to Landmand (only seen pictures), wildflower strikes me as a properly scaled Landmand.

I’ll let someone who’s played Landmand tell me I’m wrong

Have never played Wildflower but Landmand is fucking enormous. I’m not sure we have scales big enough to measure it.

You’ve literally convinced me in one sentence of why I should go play Wildflower asap.
The biggest problem with Landmand is its, honestly, too big.

There are 2 bad (maybe 3) overgrown holes but I have it on good authority that they have a long term goal to get those holes back. The rest of the course is amazing! - great family business and a proper course

It’s not the easiest but can be done. It’s the best course in that area pretty easily. Front nine is a harder walk.

I have not played Landmand but from the pictures I could see it having similar expansive views that landmand does but the course itself is not that wide or large. Can actually get pretty narrow when it’s windy. The greens have some slopes that are interesting but not close to the level of Landmand. Just get past 8 9 and 10 and the rest of the course is really good.

Sweet. Sounds like I won’t bring the unstructured carry bag and just plan to ride. No need to kill myself.

Appreciate y’all. Wish I could be at the NSS5 instead.

What’s worse is our dear blade father is no longer available to play that Saturday. So I’ll be on my own.

Played both within 7 days of each other earlier this year. I don’t hate this take but having a tough time getting fully on board. Some of the same dramatic elevation changes though, but some holes at Wildflower… no thanks

After walking Landmand back-to-back days, I’d say anywhere is walkable BUT I don’t remember seeing a single walker the few times I’ve been out at Wildflower.

You break 80 and then get this news? What a rollercoaster

Play around the area often (will be hosting an event at Thumper on the 26th), and would echo mr @kirkeide1 here, dealer’s choice really.

Thumper is usually in the best condition but I find the greens mundane. Layout is fun though and really beats the bomb and gouge out of you if you’re a recovering junkie like myself. Fairways are a necessity there. Some people ride hard for this course.

Balmoral is fine. Is a little easier, more lakesy vibe all around. Fun. Nobody rides hard for this course.

If you’re going to be heading out of Ottertail lake proper, just go to Wildflower. Perham and DCC are good tracks but not nearly as memorable as WF.

Highs and lows man. Also, I didn’t break 80, I shot it on the number.

My bad, I misread your post in the Ope chat. Still a great score!

Update: it was hard. Good shape, every tee shot downhill, every approach uphill. It’s fine. 90 bucks was a little steep though. Also not walkable

Bump - last day for T-shirts and golf balls!

@NorthStarUnited any last-minute takers for Titleist logo balls? We’re a bit short on ProV1x and -ProV1x

As I said in the discord, if we get 2 more boxes of v1x, I’ll put an order in for 2 more dozen to get to 6 total and enough to make the minimum

I just remembered this happened and it ruined my evening.

Just an absolute abomination
