Not to get too sentimental, but I think about that sometimes. Those of us with young kids will have teenagers in a few years, some of them golfers, and this group will still exist in some form. Roosts might not, hell NLU might not. At minimum, it’ll probably look a lot different in a decade than it does now. But it’ll be cool as shit to be planning the NSS and having the next generation running up to play with us.

I will be up North of the Brainerd area this weekend and am looking for some golf. I have seen Golden Eagle recommended in the past as a cheaper option, but I looked at it and see it is $97 for the day I want to play. Is it still worth it at that price or should I just play the Gravel Pit or a boring looking course in Walker which is less of a drive?
You should be able to find a coupon for Golden Eagle that makes it $50 to ride during the week. I’ve used iDeal Genie (sounds fake asf, but isn’t) in the past. Or you could drive about 45 mins east of Golden Eagle to MN National in McGregor, which I haven’t personally played but have heard good things about. If you’re going through Brainerd I do like Gravel Pit a lot as a short course, but I would stick to the main 13-hole layout. The 10.5 gives you a lot of the same exact shot.

Or I can do Deacons Lodge for $100? Seems like everything is around that number except for the Classic at Maddens and Cragun’s. I’ll look out for that coupon.

Deacon’s at $100 is primo. Also I didn’t pay close attention to your original post and I’ll be up there this weekend too with family. Playing Gravel Pit Friday afternoon and a few are playing Deacon’s on Sunday but I opted out this year since we’re planning to head home that evening.
