Roll Call: Michigan - get out and play!

This!!

To drive 5 hours and only play Diamond Springs, I’m not sure I would do that. But if you could also get a round in at Pilgrims or The Mines. It would totally be worth it.

Or New Holland can’t go wrong either way!

Tagging along to this: I am doing a trip to Gull Lake View Resort for 3 days. Driving to Detroit to stay the night. Forest Dunes the next three days. Then G-Rap for the Devries courses. Very excited!

If you get the chance on your Grand Rapids Trip, I would recommend Either Bedford Valley or Stoatin Brae. Both are awesome courses and just outside of Kalamazoo in Augusta, MI.

I’d love to play all of these courses, but unfortunately I don’t really have the time or the money (college student funds are a little tight). If I make the trip, I’d just be teeing off around 10, then heading back home as soon as I’m done to make it for family dinner.

I’m definitely all in on making this kind of trip sometime in the future though! Forest Dunes, Stoatin, Arcadia, Greywalls… I’ve got quite the bucket list of Michigan golf

Totally understandable there! It can get costly! I will be in the area to play some of the same courses on June 3rd. If that is a day that works, HMU I would absolutely play.

yea, totally understand. With all that said, I don’t think you will be disappointed in Diamond Springs.

Glad social distancing is being closely followed…

Diamond Springs is 100% worth it. Angels Crossing in Vicksburg MI is an interesting course as well, in addition to Stotain Brae.

I think Angels Crossing is under rated.
We do a 36 day every year at The Grande and Angles Crossing. Love those courses.

I need to use my group golfer for angel crossing! I am excited to play there!

So I guess lodging is open effective immediately at Arcadia. I had a friend call up there today and they said lodging is open till the state shuts them down.

Played Stonehedge South last week. I was really impressed with the routing, condition, and firmness of the course. Got all of the old-time Country Club vibes with the small greens, short walks between tees & greens and tight landing areas. I definitely like the South more then the North and would probably Place it above Stoatin Brae until they thin out the Fescue a ton.

Aren’t the playing corridors at stoatin brae like 70 to 80 yards wide between the fescue? I’ve heard a few people talk about how the fescue is overgrown but, and i’m sure it would be better if it was thinned out, how bad could it be?

The Grande in Jackson has gone down hill in the last couple of years. Calderone in Grass Lake is nicer and less expensive. Give it a shot

I am a big fan of Calderone as well.

The fescue basically played like a water hazard on both sides of the fairway. Couple that with firm and fast conditions in the fairways and it equals lost balls, high scores and slow play. Of course, keep it in the middle, but if it was thinned out you could kill multiple birds with that one stone. That being said, I played it last August. Hopefully it has started to change for the best.

I played stoatin last May before the fescue grew up and it was an enjoyable round. Could find your ball in the burnt down fescue easily. I am sure once it grows up it, that it is much more punishing. There were hundreds of balls that had been burnt from the prior season.

Played it a couple of weeks ago and it’s in great shape. You could tell last year they were concentrating on getting the conditioning back to what it used to be and it’s working.
