They should be scared of how much they will love it.

Hello Michiganders. Wife and I are off to Ann Arbor staying in the Graduate hotel tonight for a concert at The Ark. before I take to TripAdvisor - Anyone familiar with that part of town have a dinner recc near that area? Any suggestions appreciated!

Do you want a fancy place to eat or a more casual spot?

Cause I’m always going to recommend Frita Batidos.

A tasty Mexican restaurant? I can always get behind that. Probably lean casual

Edit: My bad - should have gone to website first. It’s Cuban! That place could be perfect

Depending on timing after the concert, The Last Word is an awesome cocktail bar/speakeasy. If you’re a bourbon guy, they also have high-end pours at normal prices, and by normal, I mean closer to MSRP and not insanely overpriced

Oh absolutely down for a cocktail or two. Thanks

This upsets me

Tough date. 2 weeks after our major, competition with The Tussle.

Everyone hated the weather last year, and spring golf has been very spotty the last 2-3 years, so it was this date or a date even earlier in April. Didn’t want to be up against The Tussle, but there’s only so many dates to choose from when working around the schedules for two roosts. I also didn’t really want it going into the fall with more kids sports going, and people doing the NIT and/or Roost Championship.

Just wanted to drop in here that the date for the RBR has changed to June 28. That was the date Matt and I originally agreed on, and I put it in my calendar wrong, which lead to me sending it to the course wrong. All other details are still the same.

I see the Frita Batitdos recommendation, it is a fun spot but very casual, not exactly fast food but it’s not exactly a restaurant.

If you are looking for more of a sit down restaurant, a couple places to check out would be:
Peridot - modern Asian spot
Aventura - tapas, good wine list and cocktails
Mani - Neapolitan pizza and fresh pasta
Taste Kitchen - slightly more formal restaurant but really good creative modern/Asian place

Just my two cents but those would be good date night spots.

BigT are you a C-suiter? Quick service dining doesn’t count as a restaurant?

I will whole heartedly second the Aventura recommendation though. Probably my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor.

I am standing by my take. Big fan of Fritas but it’s not a date night spot. @SvenPaterson is talking about a nice night out with the wife, concert at the The Ark, etc. He could have chosen a cheap hotel out by Briarwood but he picked The Graduate. “Quick service” dining would be unbecoming in a situation like this. Just looking out for my guy Sven here.

I would have included Isalita in my list but, alas, RIP Isalita.

Amazing group dinner spot and bonus points when it’s on the company dime

I appreciate you being the details gui that you clearly are BigT_annarbor. Thank you for the excellent recc’s - loved Ann Arbor, albeit being a grey and misty day that it was.

The concert was fantastic (if you like acoustic guitar in the vein of Michael Hedges, my man Mike Dawes absolutely killed it)

After my wife made her desire for noodles quite clear, we ended up visiting Tomukun. Had the pork buns to start, then slow cooked beef Ramen, and topped it off with a Red Rice Hitachino Nest ale that might have been the most refreshing beer I ever dun did had. So much so that I had to make a stop at Total Wine and Liquor on my way outta town to snatch a few of their offerings.

11/10 would go back to AA. And I haven’t even garfed up there yet…
