God fuck I want to do this very badly. Vacation time is at an ultra premium this year so I’m a lil worried. Let me see if I can work some magic

Things working against me, child is 7 months old. Things working, maybe, for me. I want to spend post father’s day weekend being a degenerate golfer as a father’s day gift.

Currently piecing together a 4man trip to Grand Rapids for golf and Billy Strings shows (Fri 5/30 and Sat 5/31)

Golf wise, we’re considering the local DeVries tour as outlined by the fried egg (and others). Diamond Springs, Pilgrims Run and the Mines.

Any recommendations for food, drink, dispensaries, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

You should hit Maxs South Seas Hideaway.

Just did this trip last year. Hopefully you have better weather because we got rained out at Diamond Springs. The tiki drinks at Max’s were delicious. If you are into board games at all there’s a place called House Rules where you can play board games and have a beer that was fun. It’s a very scooter friendly city. We just hopped on scooters the one day and bounced around to various bars. Made getting around easy (and fun). The tap room at Founders was solid for a flight of their beers. We went to a place on the way out of town that had awesome pour over coffee. Can’t remember the name right now, but I’ll figure it out and let you know because it is definitely worth visiting if you appreciate coffee.

Oh, and can’t forget about The Mitten Brewing Company. The bartender was great and we basically did flights of pizza and flights of beers. Really enjoyed both. Highly recommend it.

Just heard back from @cussingmussel. It was madcap. We had the elefante roast they had at the time and it was delicious.

So. Much. Pizza. at The Mitten. Place was excellent.

Having the short course at The Mines to ourselves, playing cross-country routings, and generally just vibing while we enjoyed some post-round transfusions was also a highlight. We accidentally stayed out there a good bit past our allotted time and no one batted an eye.

Though I can’t remember specifics, I also have a fond recollection of the tacos and cervezas at Donkey Taqueria.

Madcap is great.
Depending on where you are there’s another cool coffee place sort of out in the suburbs a bit called sparrows (it’s on the back side of kingma’s market) that fucking rocks.

Since we’re doing coffee recs, gonna shout out my hitters at stovetop. We used to live right around the corner from there and it was a weekly pilgrimmage on our way to the market. Great coffe and solid brekky sandos. Also outdoor coffee co is, imo, best vibes for coffee in town.

Stovetop? I went to HS with the guys that founded that place I’m pretty sure. Wish I was a coffee guy so I could partake

I hear ya! I have tried so many different coffees and I just for whatever reason do not like it.

took your advice and we got an airbnb mid June a 10 minute drive from the highlands. How scared should the 3 non golfers be for the Hills course?
