Lived in RVA last 4 years and Belmont is great, and I hate to say it, BUT, if there’s a way you can keep all 18 holes with a reno, do it. The 12 belmont holes are spectacular, but i just wish it was 18 and you could make it more of a “real” golf course
So I was looking up some wedge stuff on Google and this popped up as a sponsored result:
Anyone have any information on the company? I have seen Detroit Putter Company, but didn’t know there was a Detroit Golf Co.
Looks like they’re separate companies based on a LARA search. Detroit Golf Co was incorporated in 2020 and is registered to a guy in Dearborn Heights. Detroit Putter Co was formed in 2022 and looks to be run by people in Novi and Plymouth.
I believe it’s a small shop that imports their items and club heads, and builds the clubs at their location in Detroit.
Yea looking at the website it looked like someone taking stuff and just putting a logo on it.
Lots of that in Detroit
Has anyone played Chase Hammond golf course in Muskegon? I’m in town from AZ and that’s pretty close to our rental house
Oh man, I truly hate that for you. You missed out on my favorite course. Hope you get the chance to get out there again at some point.
If you want to drive a bit south and play GVSU, let me know. I’m in Grand Haven. Haven’t played the course you mentioned
Family vacation coming up in a few weeks. Northern Michigan is a little slice of heaven. We’ve done Little Traverse Bay (and played Belvedere) the last two years, but wanted to check out a different area this year and booked a house near Lake Ann. Looking to play 3 rounds and considering the following courses:
Champion Hill
Pinecroft
Crystal Lake
Bahle Farms
Sugarloaf
Are any of these must plays or must avoids? Am I missing any hidden gems? Manitou Passage, Mistwood and Interlochen are nearby, but are they worth playing?
Could likely get access to some private clubs, but not sure if it’s worth the hassle unless the course warrants it. Would anyone highly recommend Traverse City CC, Leland CC or Lochenheath?
Are all well recommended in the group
I would second those picks!
AJGA tournament in full swing up north at The Highlands. Fun vibe. But you would not believe how long some/most of these kids take on the greens. Insane.
Played Sugar Loaf yesterday and loved it. Definitely not super manicured, rather has a more “natural” feel to it, but with great green complexes and fun holes. $60, feels like an absolute hidden gem.
Manitou stinks. Do not play it. They’re trading on Arnie’s name and putting that money straight up their nose. Awful conditions, anything more than 5 yards off the fairway is dead. Hate that place.
Never been to the other private ones, but Lochenheath was pretty dang sweet up there a few yrs ago before it went full private! (Can’t speak to current conditioning or anything, but was a fun layout and experience though). Champion Hill was great too… Others I’ve heard kind of close that have been well regarded are Manistee Golf and Country Club and Wolf River. ENJOY!
What’s the minutes per hole math to fit this in the day? Serious question, I support the effort
Daylight is said to be 11 and a half hours on the day, so right around 690 minutes of daylight total. Which means a hole of golf every 7 minutes to finish by sunset.
You’ll move faster than that and be done well before sunset. As long as you don’t get tricked into playing an alt-shot match and slow down your day, you’ll be done before you know it.
Oh for sure. I plan on getting done as quickly as possible. The course doesn’t look super long or challenging so the plan is to keep it straight off the tee as much as possible and just keep the ball moving forward.
Hoping to see if I can grab a couple Fresh Coast Flock guys to play a match or two out there with me as we go.
Chandler Park is short. One of the par 3’s is 86 yards. One of the par 4’s is 225. You can realistically get by using a half set to make it easier.
