I’ve been very on board with courses being closed for safety reasons, but that video/ article is kind of trash. The LSJ gives the AG’s office a complete pass and doesn’t even reference the quotes they gave in the Q&A in the Freep last week. Just makes mention of that the Lansing Police department said it was in conflict with what they had been told by the AG.
Additionally, I’m not even sure what’s so egregious in that video? That parking lot is half filled and there’s not a group of people loitering in it. They show people not social distancing but those groups honestly look like people that live together. Just something feels off with that whole thing.
When other courses are struggling (before and during the quarantine) this has to be super frustrating and I don’t blame John Doe one bit. F those clowns at Lansing. Golfers have a bad reputation (with some of the public) as elitist and entitled. This video does not help correct that perception. When things do start to loosen up do you think golf will be given first crack considering the crap going on at Lansing?
Those goofs are probably Sparty fans too.
C’mon man. Are you saying this video is a conspiracy against who? What?
Its a pissed off dude who is being shut out of golf and abiding by the ruling filming those who ARE NOT.
If you genuinely think that one group looks like the people live together? Please tell me you’re joking.
Why? Are the trails closed?
This is about people defying government mandates. Why is this so difficult to comprehend for some people? This is what happens when blowhards tweet junk like “Liberate Michigan”.
Ahh I must be behind the times. I though they still allowed the course to have people walking on it. However, I am also no lawyer. Unless we are talking Lawyerings involving bird-law then I’m your guy.
I think there was a little bit of sarcasm there. A few of the parks we normally take our kids to have walking trails. We’ve gone over there a few times the last couple weeks and we aren’t comfortable going there because it’s so crowded. Meanwhile the 5-6 100+ acre golf courses in the area are closed…
I guessed I missed the joke.
As sensitive is the topic is for those itching to play I can see how humour may miss the mark like a 5iron in a pot bunker.
I am really hoping next Thursday we get notification that courses are allowed to open to a minimal function (no carts, club house closed, online pay or pay through a window, raised cups, etc). If golf is closed through May i may have a mental break down.
I know, it’s getting tough! I’ve found that this layoff has me buying so much more golf stuff too. Irons, range finder, shoes, shirts, shorts, pants, balls… everything
This has already been clarified by the AGs office. That’s a private course on private land - there are already quotes from the deputy AG and multiple county prosecutors. The conclusion is there is no way to enforce people walking/golfing on private property.
I may disagree with that and be jealous of the opportunity for country club members to play, but the fact still remains that those golfers are allowed to be there. Read the following link under “Can I golf”
Oh for sure. It’s not good! Retail therapy is the best therapy. I’ve put together a Sunday bag during this time. I’ve got a wedge getting delivered today!
