Roll Call: Michigan - get out and play!

Played all of them the last two years. From an amount of golf on one property it’s a pretty solid deal. Courses are decent but nothing special. Bring cash, extra snacks and water for on the course. The courses weave amongst each other and there is only one halfway house (could be hole 6 or 13 depending on course). They typically have a beverage cart going around but it’s remote and cell service is really spotty so they only take cash or room charges.

Would recommend for a guys golf trip where you don’t want to be jumping around locations.

That was our trip about 6-7 years ago. Every course started from the main clubhouse, lodging right there, perfect setup for a hangout buddies trip.

Heading up there early August on a 12 guy trip. Had never been before so any insights great!

Nine holes are L&M. The other nine were added in the 60s. The L&M holes are mixed throughout the course, but there are designators on the tee signs that tell you which holes are which.

I tell people that when you play Greywalls, you drive in through a typical parkland course, get in a cart, drive through the maintenance yard, disappear into the woods, and when you emerge a minute or two later, it’s like you went through the wardrobe into Narnia. Looks like you’ve entered a completely different planet than where you were a few minutes before.

Looks like a lot of water. Which has this guy and his erratic dispersion a tick nervous!

There’s water, especially on swampfire but a lot of it won’t actually come in to play. Definitely more of a mental barrier than anything

I’ve got a group of 32 where we annually go to treetops however their pricing is starting to get a bit out of control so we’ve got a few guys who want us to look into Garland for next year. This is helpful info.

Ok, yes, I didn’t want to be that specific, but you are 100% correct.

Yeah, that reveal for the first hole at Greywalls is something else

The golf boom is tricking places like Treetops into thinking they’re still top tier and preventing them from doing a much needed refresh.

We played Tradition last year on a trip to Gaylord. It was the most expensive course we played and by far my least favorite.

The golf package increase for us was a decent jump from last year to this year but still a good deal IMO, but when you are charging $36 for a domestic 6 pack or $6 for a Gatorade you can go kick rocks.

And that’s their “cheap” course. I was appalled to see what they charge if I were to just book a random tee time outside of the golf package we annually have.

Wonder if champion hill & Pinecroft would be accommodating for a 32 person group

@theclv24 did this trip last year and wrote about it. He had good things to say about it.

My recollection from Garland is that Fountains actually had the most water in play, as the name suggests. But yes the 3 courses on the east side of the road have plenty of water. The one where you cross the road wasn’t so bad in terms of hazards.

@meathaus My bottom line was the golf was worth it, the accommodations and staff were not. But definitely affordable. Hope you guys have a good trip.
