Hi. A couple friends and I are visiting NYC at the end of May and are looking to play Bethpage Black. When researching how to book tee times we saw the following:

ā€œNYS Residents may book a reservation one week in advance starting at 7pm and non-NYS residents may make reservations five days in advance starting at 7pm for all courses.ā€

In order to have the best chance to get a time, we are looking for a New York State resident to fill out our foursome and book the tee time.
We will pay for your round.

The dates we’re open to playing are Friday, May 31, Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2.

If you are interested, please DM me on instagram (@wereiswallthough). You can also DM me here, although I don’t check this nearly as often.

Thanks, and of course, happy Masters Thursday to you all!

Post another reminder 8 days before you’re looking and we’ll get our best people on it! Sometimes they are lucky sometimes they aren’t!

Good afternoon everyone, just got back on the Refuge after a long absence. I am originally from Hawthorne in North Jersey, but after a few other stops across the country, my wife and I just moved back, and I bought a home in Ridgewood.

Last time I was in Jersey I’d play every week with my dad, who has sadly since passed, so looking for people to hit the links with. I have a couple of friends who play but not anywhere near as seriously as I do, so it’s tough.

Mostly looking to stick to Bergen county courses, maybe some Morris or Sussex or Essex, but not looking to break the bank either, being a new homeowner and all.

Not sure if there’s a more specific North Jersey roost, but figured I’d get my name out there.

I just moved to Glen Rock a year ago and finally got my Bergen county card. Most of my friends in the area aren’t as into golf as me. Pm if you to play a round

I am going to be in NYC in a few weeks and I am struggling picking which course I am going to play on my day off. I have narrowed it down to Rock Spring, Pound Ridge or Ballyowen. Some locals opinions would be appreciated. Also, the day I will be playing is May 16th if anyone wants to play with a stranger.

Rock Spring, Pound Ridge and Ballyowen would be the correct order. You should also consider Bally Links (formerly Trump Ferry Point).

I’ll be in Austin that day but I’m sure we could fill out a foursome for you! (Many of the NY crew are no longer on the Refuge though)

I agree on the order from @HibernatingBear — I may be able to join you if you were planning to play in the afternoon?

Depends how late in the afternoon. What time would you be available? Also thank you and @HibernatingBear for the responses. Also, a lot of reviews I am reading say that the conditions at Rock Spring haven’t been all that good, is that no longer the case? Really want to play a Raynor but a bit worried about how consistent that theme is

Rock Spring is imo the better course but nearby Francis Byrne is no slouch, a ton of fun, and has plenty of template holes. If you’re trying to get on a weekday, you should be able to find a tee time

I’m not local to Rock Spring but we’ve had several events there over the years and, while the conditioning seems to get progressively worse, it’s still in very good shape and the templates are there but it would be a fantastic candidate for a reno.

@CaptainHarlow prob can speak better to current conditions

Anyone know if they are still planning on using Kyle Franz to restore the place?

I’m not sure what the latest is on that front. There were a lot of meetings with the town which some of our guys attended but I haven’t heard much since. I think there was a lot of pushback. Again @CaptainHarlow will prob be the best person to answer that

I haven’t played yet this year but my neighbor had good things to say about it. And I still haven’t heard anything real about the renovations that they kept talking about 2 years ago.

Any sick individuals free of Mother’s Day obligations wanting to play Bethpage Black on May 12? I will be in town from DC and am trying to play there.

If not, I am going to solo it and show up around 5:30 (?) looking for a tee time…is that a good strategy? I won’t be able to sleep in the car the night before…and how does it work, is there someone I go up to in search of a tee time?
