some of the kids on the williams team can drive 8 from the back tees (over the trees), that’s a sight to behold
Oh I can see it, I murdered a driver there and had 55 yards in, (which I then put thin over the back) but i can imagine someone who can really mash the ball cutting that corner
Jealous, I’ve never played there. I assume you live in Western Mass., because if you live in Boston this is a serious commitment to great golf.
Live just over the border in NY, bout a 45 min drive so not too bad!
I can’t tell if I expect courses to be in better condition (because no one has been playing them) or worse condition (because maybe courses haven’t been as diligent with upkeep) than usual.
I played two crap courses the last two days, both had been maintained, but needed seed in some areas and underbrush cleared out. The fairways were in great shape, probably because of the lack of traffic and lots of rain.
i hit the pro shop from the back tee on that hole with an 8 iron
Really enjoying 15min tee time increments and not hearing any carts driving around the course
Was talking to our GM about that today. They’ve lost about 40% of tee times with the 15 minute increments but pace of play is flying and some members have requested we keep the 15 minute spacers. And without carts flying around it’s really peaceful and almost takes you back to a time of just walking golf? Gives a cool vibe to a classic course
Was able to get in the first golf of the season yesterday at Wayland. Struck the irons extremely well, too bad the putting was horrific. Enjoyed not having carts flying around and the 15 min tee time increments. Course was in decent shape, greens were hit and miss. Good to just get out there again and out of the house.
How was the pace of play there? Did the 15 min tee times and walking make a difference?
I played Highfields yesterday with 15 min tee times and pace of play was atrocious. By the back 9 there were 3 groups per hole, it was ridiculous. I was excited because we played the first 4 holes in like 45 mins, and it still took well over 4 hours to play our round.
Pace of play was actually very good, never was waiting for anyone to finish, and we never held up anyone behind us. To be fair, we did get out at 4pm to get the twilight rate, but even at the first tee I never felt rushed. Would recommend Wayland based on my experience yesterday.
@anon26814599 still down for Saturday? Me and @Coop planning a round now
I’m not from Massachusetts (or Rhode Island, for that matter). But this has got to be a joke, right?
The epitome of craziness
Morning Massholes. I am wondering what you guys and gals are seeing on the course with respect to the state guidelines (i.e. 15 min tee times, etc…).
I played Unicorn Golf Course in Stoneham last night (A shit hole I know, but it is close to me) and they weren’t following 15 minute tee times, they didn’t have hand sanitizer, didn’t have the guidelines posted, and guys were in the parking lot after the round drinking beers.
So, what have you guys seen?. Is this isolated or is MA having trouble being compliant?
… And this is how we will lose golf again! Fuqers! I have waited for too long!
