Roll Call: Massachusetts

Where was the pin on 7?

Front left … landed short … chipped it to 4 feet on the low side and made the par putt … supposedly they are redoing it this fall

Anyone looking to play in the morning on Thursday 10/24 - I’ll be in town for work and hoping to secure tee times at George Wright - going to (fingers crossed) try and get something before 9am and will book for four (4) spots, so greens fees are on me, just need some locals for course knowledge and company!

Count me in if you’re able to get anything for pre-9am. Been able to get out to GW a handful of times this year and it has beat me up every time so would love one more run at it this fall

Secured a 11:40am time at George Wright on Wednesday 10/23 if anyone wants in - again, greens fees on me just need a group so I don’t look like Stephen Glansburg out there.

Still going to try for a pre 9am time on Thursday as well but not sure of my chances as a non-permit holder.

Can’t join but I will always like and reply to a random Superbad reference.

Keep your eyes open in the next few days. They may open up early times if they are sure that there won’t be a frost delay.

Going to be in Concord for a wedding next weekend and have Saturday to myself. Any golf recommendations near there?

Shaker Hills is only about 25 minutes from there. A little pricey for what it is, but it’s a fun round.

There is a lot going on at this place that I must know more about

And they’re running up on @RyMo 's block??? I have to check this place out

It’s worth seeing if you have $120 kicking around and want to play some kinda weird but mostly fun golf. The roof shot is such a cheap* thrill

*$120

Haven’t played Shaker in a couple years, but I typically lean Butter Brook over it. Usually in better shape and I think it’s also slightly cheaper?

Red tail > butter brook or shaker in that general area for a similar price

I ended up booking a time at Quail Ridge given its proximity to Concord (< 15 min drive). Obviously there are some very negative reviews online about it but it seems like those people went in there with bad expectations, specifically about how they route their “second 9”. Anyone been there recently?

How are conditions at Red Tail right now? Might try and get out there before the season ends, haven’t played it in a couple years but one of my fav layouts

Any recommendations for a swing coach or lessons in the Boston area? I live in Brookline, but anything near downtown would be convenient with work.

For reference, I’m a 16 hcp struggling with a steep swing and inconsistent misses. I’m interested in a place that can help me create good habits, and potentially overhaul my swing to the basics, revamping my home-grown mechanics. Even better would be a place that I can practice over the winter.

Can’t vouch for the lesson part directly, but if you’re looking for something downtown, check out Five Iron Golf near Government Center. They are going to open a second location in 2025 in the Seaport.

@ThatDuffGuyPat has made some really big strides with Athan at Pure Drive Golf in Woburn, which is also a great place for indoor practice in the winter. Obviously the downside is the drive out to Woburn for someone that lives close to the city.

Yeah I go to Quinn up there and he’s great. Agree on it being a great spot for winter practice. Also check out FlexGolf in Arlington as well, pretty simple sim set up there, but workable for practice sessions

Not sure how many of you are also keeping an eye on the New Hampshire roll call thread, but we’re being called out.
