Roll Call: Massachusetts

The 2 mile walk between 9 and 10 make carts pretty key. A shuttle bus or rope tow would be good.

Anyone got an early tee time sat and looking for one more?

Saturday and Sunday morning at little Marion. Let’s ride. No I don’t have openings, it was booked weeks ago I’m just pumped the weather looks to be cooperating.

Walked Butterbrook twice, starting on the back both times. I was definitely warmed up by the time I arrived at the 10th tee. That is a monster trek.

Really enjoy the course. I try to play it when I have a weekday off work.

Howdy - I posted this in NH/VT roll call as well but there is a great raffle going on to benefit a fellow Refugee. There are a ton of great donated items, and one of them is a 4some 18 hole round at Hooper. Current bid is at $100 and the raffle ends tomorrow. A great deal for a great cause.

Please consider bidding on the rounds at Hooper and some of the other great items!

Hate to be that guy… anyone have a recommendation for a place that’s open this Saturday? Trying to find a middle point between me in Maine and my buddy in RI.

I just don’t know enough courses in the area. TY!

Far Corner should be back open by then. Probably far enough from both of you to be somewhat middle, depending on where in Maine you are.

Good Morning All,

I am coming up to Providence and Boston Next week for work and find my self with next Saturday, Sunday and Monday (27,28,&29) free. Looking for recomendation for good golf in the area will have a rental car so getting around won’t be an issue, won’t be traveling with clubs so the ability to rent, borrow, or beg clubs will be required. Appreciate any insight or recomendations.

Anybody play Redtail recently (like this week)? Got an old buddies get together and looks like they punched greens on the 9th.

Might have to pivot to shaker but that place is always in meh condition this time of year as well

Hello , not sure about rentals but triggs memorial golf course in providence is a fun course

Call courses and see what they got. Usually it’s crappy clubs but worth asking.

You could play overpriced and overrated granite for 170 bucks or whatever and rent for 90

Since you have a rental car and a full weekend, I might suggest shipping clubs up. Not sure about quality of rental clubs up in these parts and shipping here and back probably equal price wise to renting 2-3 times.

+1 - Triggs is a great little muni Donald Ross. Highly enjoyable, though prepare for a long day.

I’ve lived in the Boston area for the last 17 years and never could bring myself to play Granite Links. Sounds like I shouldn’t bother trying now.

I always say you need to play it once for your own opinion. But not at that price. Part of the backlash about Granite is the quality of the golf vs the price of the golf. There are always deal around if you keep an eye out. The course is not bad for $70. For $170 it is enragingly awful.

Fair enough! Also, “enragingly awful” is a great phrase

Hole 1 of the Granite 9 might be the worst opening hole I can think of

I didn’t even have to remember which 9 was Granite to know exactly what hole you’re talking about. It’s an abomination

The first time I played Granite was in 2020 when I was dying to play anywhere and that was the first hole I played. I was so fucking mad.
