Roll Call: Massachusetts

If anyone is in the Stockbridge area, my wife and I will be there Monday- Thursday. Planning on playing Greenock one of those days if anyone would like to join. Also open to any suggestions for food or other golf as well.

Just moved up to Boston area - would love to play with anyone / everyone before winter sets in. Also interested in any recommendations for best places to play in the area.

Welcome, let me where around Boston and I can help point you in the right direction for courses.

Anyone want to play Thursday? Have an 11 at Marion but am flexible! Driving down from Maine in the AM

Hi guys

Just heard allendale country club in north Dartmouth all winter is having Sunday events register morning of and shotgun start at 9 weather permitting… seems like it could be some fun if it’s a mild winter like last year

Late to the party but I played Bayberry and Captains Course in July before a wedding.

Really enjoyed both.

Both of the Dennis courses are good too.

Former Norton CC member, now reside in Portsmouth NH but always down to play in MA if anyone ever needs to round out a 4some !

Don’t know where else to put this so I figured the MA thread was best.

NEED to know if anyone has some takes on the Karen Read/Turtleboy fiasco that has been going on in the commonwealth for the last two years. Some truly deranged bad actors on all sides!

This prompted me to look this up… just wow

I am monitoring it, TrapDraw style. But yea…it is certainly wild

Would make for a fantastic TD episode.

The story keeps getting weirder.I honestly believe Read, the injuries aren’t consistent w being hit by a car.

Turtleboy is an absolute loser though. Always has been, always will be.

Hello all,

I don’t live in MA but my family has reconnected with extended family, and there’s a traditional charity golf outing put on every year that they’re expanding. Me and my pops are gonna come in hot with hardware on our mind.

Sandy Burr is the spot, and its usually the last weekend of June. What’s the low-down on the course?

That’ll be very weather dependent. When we are on the drier side, course is an absolute blast. Rain definitely can cause some very soggy spots including flooding whole hole but you’ll love it especially off the tee and around the greens. Par 3s are no gimmies and par 5s are rewarded with great drives.

I think 6-8 is probably the most challenging stretch on the course, in terms of tee shots.

  • 6 is a blind tee shot up over a hill that hides a hazard on the right side. Anything up the right that lands on the backside of the hill will likely run into the hazard. You can play it further left than you think.
  • 7 is a 140ish forced carry to a narrowing landing area with hazards on either side. 185-200 should put you in the fattest part of the landing area. Depending on the tees and whether you can reliably carry a driver 270+, you can also play it to the wider area just short of the green.
  • 8 is a dogleg with a cut-able corner for high ball flights. Playing it to the corner will leave you with a short or mid iron, whereas taking on over the trees on the right will leave you with no more than wedge.

Also, do whatever you can to stay short of the flag on 9. It’s the most domed, Donald Ross-y green on the course and any putt from above the hole could end up off the green.

Thanks guys!

Since we’re coming in as first timers, no clue about the organization structure of the event, but if I’m allowed any planning, will try to see if I can extend some invites.

My dad gave me a Martin-Martin Memorial towel a few years ago that his dad had from when the tournament was at its heyday in the 90s. it was always a goal of mine to start it back up.

Not sure how golf-centric the family is running it now, but would love to get involved and build it back up, so I’ll keep yall posted!

Always down to throw $ at a good cause and play some golf. Keep us posted. Played Sandy once and really enjoyed it, but don’t remember much.

It’s our roost major venue, so there’s a reason to play it at least once a year.

Well damn. Need to get down for some practice rounds!

I’ve heard some unsubstantiated rumors the major location may be moving…
