Roll Call: Massachusetts

Now you have to go back and play the Jones. You know, in the name of being thorough.

For sure … you know just to compare the two

Anyone have intel on Belmont CC? Playing in an outing there in a couple weeks.

Dedham is very high up on my list of “places I would love to play every day”. Wish I could have been out there to watch this week

All square through 7 - just resumed after a 2 hr-plus delay. Mass Golf is showing the final on their Instagram live for anyone who wants to follow.

Still all square on 16 after Skoler birdie on 14 and Smith birdie on 15. Check it out!

Hey Gang!

I’m not sure if any of you are planning to go to the Ryder Cup next month in Rome. I have 4 tickets for Thursday’s practice round and opening ceremony that I can’t use. DM if you’re interested or know of someone who is.

Heading up to Kennebunk for a couple days to work away from home. Cape Arundel has been on my bucket list for a while so I locked in a 7am on Thursday. Anybody play there recently? Tips/recs outside of what I can gather from the fried egg? How chill are they if I roll up earlier to dew sweep (race against time for morning meetings/air bnb checkout)?

The course is absolutely pure right now.

CA was our home course when I played for the local uni, so I have plenty of tips:

2 - Keep your tee ball left-center, trees up the right side (and in front of the green) can block you out.

5 - Unless you can drive the green, hit hybrid or a long iron out to the flagstick in the fairway. Missing that fairway left leaves a super awkward stance.

6 - If the pin is on the top tier, you can fly your tee shot into the slope behind the green and let it feed back. Don’t get cute if the pin is front left.

8 - Anything long into the green is rolling off the back and on to 2 green.

9 - Only par 5, if you can hit a draw up the tree line you’ll have an iron in to the green.

10 - Approach shots from the right rough won’t hold the green.

11 - You can drive the green with an assist from the road.

13 - Plays a club longer than you think.

15 - Hit your tee ball over the trees up the right side, fairway is further right than it seems from the tee.

16 - You can miss short right and feed your ball up to the green.

17 - Look where the pin is when you cross the bridge from 14 tee. If it’s up front, try and play to the slope in front of the green and let it feed down.

That golf course is incredibly peaceful when it’s quiet, you’ll enjoy playing early AM. Keep in mind there’s no restaurant on-site, can head back to Kennebunk and hit The Blue or Boulangerie after.

I live in Kennebunk so feel free to PM if you need any local recs.

Who do I need to ask to please add me to whatever list which lets me add that sweet BTP logo to my avatar? Don’t have the option enabled under preferences.

Anyone done lessons at Kohr golf in Natick that cares to share what they thought of it? Considering signing up for a lesson. Thanks!

Anyone else’s club suffer large damage from the storms this week? I got notice we are closed for the foreseeable future, lost over 30 trees on Friday apparently.

My power was out for about 36 hours or so and I’m a lucky one, one of my buddies probably won’t have anything until Monday.

Dislike that my man.

A week + back or so…? During the storms before Labor Day, One of the tornadoes touched down a half mile or so from my house with a bunch of trees down in that general area. Curiosity got the best of me so I took the dog for a walk by to check it out afterwards and talking to those folks they made out OK with no major house damage etc. I hadn’t heard of any closures of golf courses to date though.

Glad your power is back on though!

I did a bunch with Luke Cantelo and he is a very good teacher imo. Ultimately joined a club and now do lessons there but would certainly recommend him if you are ok with the price.

Great thank you!

Any of y’all playing at Marion today for the TGJ event?

Unfortunately no I didn’t hear anything about an event there

It’s sort of an informal thing. Just free play from 3:30 on.
