Without throwing too much shade at a course I don’t belong to (but did grow up playing), I actually live ON Hunt Valley (Ridge 9), and I still drive to CCMD in Towson…membership is phenomenal, great, great golf course, excellent staff from the shop to the clubhouse, one of the best head pro in Maryland, and you can get a competitive game whenever you want…come join us! Eagles Nest is also alot of fun
(although I agree on holes 9&18 at both HVGC and Eagles Nest - blind, uphill finishing shots just to get back to the clubhouse with great views always annoys me…)
Sounds good. I look forward to it.
New Strapped today! Love the 11th on Rocky Point, I also might be influenced by the fact that its the closest I’ve ever come to a hole in one. Hit it to within 6 inches there one time.
That’s awesome. For some reason I always come up short on that hole. It’s such an easy hole and I’ve only been on it once or twice in regulation haha
So glad Rocky Point got some love on Strapped today. Have my career low round on that course (shoutout @KVV) with a 75. The back 9 is so fun with the views of the Bay and all 3 par 5’s being reachable in 2. I would like to know when they played because that place is always packed, but didn’t look like it from the episode.
It looks like Greystone will be episode 3. Big fan.
Elkridge is maintained really well, but has 4 or 5 holes that are pretty blah. It’s a tight, short course, and really fun to play. You get a decent amount of elevation changes as well, which is surprising the first time you play it. The Raynor holes are memorable, and the greens are magnificent.
CCOM and Elkridge are pretty similar in terms of play and corkiness, but Elkridge is a more stuffy atmosphere. The recently redone clubhouse is really nice, and you can’t beat the Southsides at Andys Bar.
I can’t wait to see what they shoot at greystone
What up homies. Sort of new-ish to the refuge. I live in DC but belong to CC of Woodmore in MD.
Depends on the tees they are playing. A lot of the par 5s are getable out there if they play the white tees. Any further back will be interesting. Also curious how the green on number 3 will be running.
Or the green on 9 and 12. It can get pretty silly sometimes
Yeah if the pins on the low points watch out. Also 18 is just a tough ass hole. Some scores could be blown up there.
Man its rough to watch the Strapped episodes with how the weather has been in MD. Played Rocky and Greystone so much I want to get out there and knock it around! Does anyone know when they were here?
I think it was mid summer, i only heard about it after the fact. If you search back on djpie’s twitter you can see where he’s posting about bmore related things around that time.
I’m in Howard County/Columbia; current index is a 9.1. Play weekend mornings from the DC Beltway up to Balt. County and occasionally venture into Virginia. New to NLU; found the site through their podcast with KVV.
Welcome! Hopefully you get to meet up with a few folks here.
I’m in Bmore for a few days and trying to get a round in tomorrow 12/27 if anyone’s around, and if anyone wants to join @jhughes2242 and I on Saturday, let us know!
Grew up in Bel Air, MD and caddied/played at Maryland Golf & Country Club. Now retired and live at the Beach in DE. Play out of Cripple Creek G&CC in Bethany Beach. Feel free to hit me up if you come to the beach to play. Currently a 4.8 index.
Played Blue Mash for the first time today. Course has some good vibes and fun holes… greens seem to be in good shape and has some good scale in parts. Feels like some untapped potential there?
Blue mash is an interesting course for sure. I think there are 3 different types of courses in one there. The first few holes are more links style with pot bunkers and no trees. Then you get a few woodland holes in there. Back 9 opens up with holes hugging water out there and goes back into trees then opens up with more water. If they removed some of the trees it would definitely be a better course but can say that about most places.
Exactly right. Some may say it’s “stuck between release patterns”
