Roll Call: KC Area

It’s a 6 mile walk on a 3 mile course, up & down several hills. A cart is borderline mandatory. The Nat is a MUCH easier & enjoyable walk. The real National is the best walk, will be by soon.

Corbin and I have done it a few times. Mostly when we were not supposed to be there. I walked it once in the middle of the summer and needed a nap to get my heart rate down going from 13 to 14.

Yeah man. You gotta come check it out. I think you will like seeing the change from when you were out there this time last year.

Agree with those holes, though I think #10 at Swope is a much better rendition of 6 at Hillcrest. I like 8 as well. again, some tree removal would go a long way to making it even better. 1 and 9 are just awful and 18 is pretty bad too.

With a right to left ball flight, #10 is almost impossible to find the fairway off the tee.

1 is only awful as an opener…and really I don’t mind it THAT much. 18 is fine. The only one I really didn’t see a solution to was 9. moving the cartpath to the low side somehow, take out all the trees, and merge the fairway with #10 was the “best” solution I saw.

18 is in big time danger of window breakage. Especially for dummies like me who want to hit driver there.

I thought that was a feature, not a bug?

::: cough ::: BCN and the road hole ::: cough :::

Changing topics, anyone else have a squad going up to Shoal to play the St Pattys Day 3-man scramble? Always a good time, highly recommend. Would be cool to have a couple of refugee teams to make it more interesting.

I still have a range pass to Martin City with 5 large buckets of balls on it. Think I posted in here awhile back and no one cIaimed it but I never get out that way anymore since I moved downtown. I’d sell it to someone for like $20

Id take it off your hands since I work down that way a lot lately. A large bucket is a good way to kill an hour.

you weren’t kidding. MHCC was full when I went to register on Friday. I was going to put my name on the waiting list and go ahead and register for KCCC, but I have a conflict on that date so I’m probably punting on all mid-am events. I did just register for SLAT at Milburn on April 20th though. Might play a handful of those events.

couple rounds under my belt at BHCC and I can’t say enough good things about the membership. My first round I played with the #27 ranked high school player nationally. She could play, and hit it about 260. Already verbally committed as a jr, she’s got a bright future. Then today played with a former KS Am champ, playing in the USGA fourball this year, etc. Vibe in the card room, patio, etc is fantastic. Very active, energetic club. I really should do yardwork tomorrow, but thinking I might head back out.

A lot of the mid am events will take extras if you’re willing to walk fyi. Casey is really great with that.

actually…you’re right about that…I did the same thing last year at Crestview. I’ll try to get in if I can get a decent time, wife is on 7am-7pm that week so I’m on kid duty.

I’m going to start asking around, but how do watson challenge invites work? Like what’s the resume of the “last” guy that gets an invite? to be clear I ain’t done shit, but I looked at the results from last years qualifier and they only took two? I’ve heard that this event only has a couple years left so I’d love to try and play, but odds aren’t good if they’re only taking two from the qualifier.

Not sure on invites, I only ever tried from the qualifier and years ago I think I missed it by like 5 shots and I shot 1 or 2 over. Very competitive.

From what’s I’ve seen most guys I know are more
Fresh out of college golf or a known is/was a known entity in HS golf. Outside of that it’s a bit of a who you know network.

that’s basically the only hope i’d have for an “invite” is for them to consider more mid-ams and then go do well in kc match play, a couple SLAT, etc

I’m not sure I’m willing to take a day off and pay the $125 entry for the 5% chance I have a good day and get through.

I’m bummed Blue Hills doesn’t really make sense as far as a membership goes. That and Milburn are probably most what I’m looking for in KC, but neither is in a great spot considering where I live and work. Non-zero chance I reevaluate when my lease expires, but neither really make sense right now.

I played Canyon Farms and Shadow Glen this weekend after playing Falcon Ridge last Saturday. Kinda meh on Canyon Farms, but I liked Shadow a lot. Probably not the best days to preview both considering the wind, but it beat staying inside this weekend.

I ate at the Silo on Friday and was looking out at the course at Canyon Farms. Havent played it yet, care to give more details on it? I have heard mixed reviews from a few people.

It is hard. That is about all I have to say about it. Def a championship test if that is what you are looking for.
