I think the 17th at The Golf Club at Creekmoor is a solid par 3. Also Creekmoor is changing their tee times system and going to golf now. Should be easier for non members to get times, I hope it works so more of you can enjoy the course.
Hope to see some of yall at KCCC in August!
I clicked register at 10:06 and am 30th on the waitlist. ![]()
my fault for getting too focused on work for a minute.
Same here. That sucks…
cherry on top is CL sending out a reminder that registrations are open at 10:14am, no less than 8min after one event is already full.
#growthegame
well, now that I already paid the mid-am fee, I guess I should register for a couple others. not sure I can scrape a game together by April for Lions Gate/Falcon, but I might try. We’ll see how the next couple weeks go.
I also used to be a member at Brookridge, so I might as well play there too.
I registered for the series yesterday and set an alarm… i’ve been on your guys end of the registration nightmare before…
Plus it’s a bunch of old retired dudes with nothing better to do than register for golf
I got in a couple years ago. I’m not mad about it other than having to pay the MidAm fee before I know if I got in.
I’ve played KCCC four times in other tournaments, so no big deal if I don’t get in.
Forgot about registration until the conveniently late CL email so didn’t even try for KCCC. I did register for the match play which is one of my favorite events on the calendar, anyone else playing? Trying to figure out if I’ll play the Konza or the KC 4 ball since they are back to back dates.
Yeah I was planning on doing Lionsgate and Brookridge. Also used to be a member at Brookridge so wouldn’t mind getting back there to play it again.
Kansans, how we feeling about the championship venues this year? I’ve heard some consternation since I moved a few years ago.
Correction: I will just be registering for Brookridge since Lionsgate is already full. What the hell is happening? I might be fully on the “shrink the game” bus now
Falcon Lakes supposedly has had a bunch of money put into it since it was saved from a demise at the hands of Great Life. But yeah, that’s not good at face value for the Am.
everything else looks pretty status quo?
But is the status quo good?
I actually really like Falcon Lakes. If I had to qualify for the Am, I tried to go there; I think it is a fair, big-boy golf course.
Falcon Lakes is really fun and typically in good condition recently. Still, I definitely don’t think of it as a ‘championship worthy’ golf course. Also, at only 7,000 yards par 72 (with wide fairways and big greens) I imagine scores will be pretty low, not that it really matters.
75.2/133 which is a super weird CR/Slope combo.
I will throw out Mission Hills being the venue for the Stateline Amateur, …err um… the Falcon Wealth Advisors Tour Championship, does make me want to qualify for that.
You’re right, scores/cut will be low. But it should be fun for matchplay.
I still lament the SP is at Sand Creek Station every year. And I can’t believe they hosted both Ams there in one year.
2024 – Topeka Country Club, Topeka (July 15-21)
2025 – Wichita Country Club, Wichita (July 14-20)
2026 – Mission Hills Country Club, Mission Hills
2027 – Hallbrook Country Club, Leawood
That’s a pretty good list starting in 2025.
well….not saying it is, but why would people be complaining this year vs any other?
KC golf is a weird place, we know this.
They’ve complained every year, that is kind of the point. Colbert, Crestview, Sand Creek, Falcon Lakes, Topeka CC is a baddd stretch for your premier event. It looks like 17 years and counting without Prairie Dunes. I don’t know if it is a revenue/profits thing, relationships with clubs, both, or something else. It looks better 2025-27.
