Just to throw it in the mix as a great, walkable public option (when in good shape), I really like Heritage Park. They are finally doing something with the greens which should make them a better class of bent. Would I say it’s the best out of the options out there like swope and hillcrest, maybe not. But it competes I’d say

Heritage is fine, though I think it has the worst routing in town due to the amount of criss-cross green-to-tee walks there are.

Personally, I’d take Sunflower over Heritage.

How does everyone feel about the Swope meet…

I know you mentioned how you don’t like the place, but I would take Firekeeper over Sand Creek.

I personally am excited about it. There is not a thing better on this planet than group golfing regardless of venue.

Also anyone have any insight as to why i have to wait 45 min in between replies? is this a paywall thing?

The new holes opened up last week. The first hole has a new tee and green being built, but the course is 95% finished now. Range construction just kicked off and is supposed to be done by the end of the summer. I don’t think the par 3/short course will be done until next year. The “hardest course in the city” stuff is dumb. It’ll be really hard if you play all the way back, but it’s fine from the one-ups. Still wish they took out a few more trees though.

I’m a fan of it as well. I just haven’t had a chance to jump in the mix quite yet.

I can accept this. I will admit my experience with Firekeeper is partially colored by a poor performance and playing in the rain.

2 and 10 at Sand Creek are not great. I would say 6 and 18 at Firekeeper are not good either. But I get it.

Let’s get out there on a day where it is sunny with no rain.

Quite the lively debate you inspired. Have you decided to just leave yours clubs at home? If not, you’ll have to keep us posted as to where you ended up playing.

I like Firekeeper except during the summer. Bent grass FW are a terrible decision in this region. It plays terrible soggy.

I did find it interesting when I found out they were doing full bent tees and fairways. Wish they would bake it out a bit more, but have to cater toward their clientele. They can dump a bunch of water on the course because of the aquifer they were able to tap into, which is good for bent in the region.

Best part about discussion is that no one is right/wrong and I typically learn something from it as I have over last 24 hours. Good Stuff all!

Haha I had no idea I would get this kind of response, but I have plenty of options to consider for sure. Definitely still bringing my clubs, don’t get to play enough of a variety of courses where we live so it’ll be nice to play somewhere different!

Ironhorse is $93 for early morning weekend tee times?! Wow.

It’s crazy to think about how many trees have gone down and they still could axe a bunch more. Range is supposed to be finished by the member/guest in late August. They’re moving quick on that.

I think it’s 7300 from the tips now. Not sure how many members will regularly play from those. I’m not sure how much longer the KFT event is at Blue Hills, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner makes a push to get it at Oakwood down the road.

It plays about that same distance. Back tees all around is 7400.

You can have the event as far as I’m concerned.

I vaguely remember someone from Lionsgate saying something very similar to that statement. Funny how PGA events (KFT in particular probably) don’t do much for the members
