Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 1)

Thanks for sharing this… I live like half a mile from here. Definitely will be checking it out when it opens.

Yes thanks for sharing @TrajMahal. This is a fun change of pace spot! I live very close as well @rksasko

@happykamper @TCRBrad how was sunset valley? How nasty was the setup for the superintendents revenge?

Got out to Mount Prospect finally. There was a lengthy frost delay and it was very cold, but I had a great time. I was 2 mm left of shooting par on all five par 3’s despite hitting GIR on just one of them. I managed to put two 8’s on my card as well so it was a very mixed day. Weirdest part was the post game beer/burger was interrupted by a wake (speech and everything).

First off, big shoutout to @happykamper for “hosting” me at Sunset Valley. The guy is one of the most consistent ball strikers off the tee that I’ve ever seen.

I didn’t think the superintendents gave us too hard of a time all things considered…
Most of the pins were just tucked about 2-3 paces off the back left or right corners of greens, but some were sitting in bowls or respectably flat spots. Only pins I thought were brutal were 4 (pin cut middle of the green, but on a slope so the ball doesn’t stop within 8 feet of the hole) and 15.

This being my first ever sup’s revenge round, I found it to be just a little less aggressive than expected. Fun? Absolutely. But we had a fair number of looks at birdie Saturday morning…

Thumbs up to the course, the free bowl of chili after the round, and the company.

Interesting three plus handicaps and one GUI at five shot even par on ours to win. I think the downhill putts must have been 14 stimp. Definitely advised to stay beneath the hole.

I might be fully invested in the process of the “mental miss” (@Randy)

Knowing that I’m probably not knocking one stiff to a pin that’s a few paces from the edge of the green, I hit the most greens per round this season on Saturday (12). That led to more responsible putting and eliminating the “big number”

Your lips are moving but all I hear is BORING!

Glad you had fun.

I would echo what @TCRBrad said (about the setup, not necessarily my abilities haha. But thank you!). We had a frost delay which I think dampened the conditions a little once it melted off. If you would’ve had those same pins in the middle of July it would’ve been much more difficult I think. But we each had a few decent looks at birdie within 20ft or so as Brad mentioned but couldn’t get anything to drop.

Overall had a fun time playing with Brad and he went sneaky low for seeing the course for the first time with tucked pins on every hole!

Anyone know when the pro shops are going to do their combined sale at Twin Orchards? Found some great deals last year.

@Q-school You around this Saturday?
Since the football game got kicked back to 230pm, I might head down for basketball Friday night and then get up early Saturday for a round

Seeing how good the Cincy event was, I can’t wait to fire up the Refuge Circuit next year @VenkmansLament

Not sure about that, but this is pretty much the mecca if you haven’t been.

Probably just gonna cancel the whole thing. The bar has been set entirely too high.

Nooooooo not yet…too many good ideas not to at least try out next year

I’ll spoil one right now, where the NW region will play “The Cupcake”
Tees all the way forward, and pins in the easiest spots possible. Let’s see just how low we can go.

I went last year but didn’t really need anything so didn’t look too closely. I got some vice balls and visited all the booths. The twin orchards sale is Nov 21-23.

Oh ya last year my buddy won a $1000 golf moose gift card at the golf show.

What’s the ruling on this obstruction?

Having an airplane land on a course is the ultimate backstop.
