Has anyone ever been to Black Barrel Tavern in the West Loop? They are about to open one just down the street from me and I am hoping it will be a great spot to go for a quick take out pick up or grab some beers to watch sports.

take your slander and baby back ribs and go. I’ll have you know TGI Friday’s began as a very classy establishment that included tiffany lamps (wikipedia) also, they laid the model for international franchise development (also skimmed from wikipedia). While the fun atmosphere and bourbon glaze focused menu bring you in, the focal point of the establishment is the bar and selection. So much so that past bartender olympic champions have their humble beginnings at TGI Fridays (I could have just copied and pasted, or even linked the wikipedia page but this is fun).
So to you good sir, I say take it elsewhere.

The only good thing about bennigans was the turkey sandwich on the pretzel bun, but Fatty’s in DeKalb does it better.
I’ll not stand for Chili’s slander. Just had it for lunch as a matter of fact.
Can’t go wrong with the queso burger, and the 2 for $10 is a fantastic deal.
Could also go to Cere’s and get “Eddie Johnson drunk”

Live down the street from their Madison location. We ordered out from there when we moved and it was very mediocre. That was a year ago and the menu has since changed, but we haven’t been. The same group bought up the Ogden and re-did that menu. Been there twice and the food leaves something to desire only when comparing it to the old Ogden. Black Barrel menu looks better than Ogden though, that’s for sure. Also…real round about way to say I have not had their food in over a year!

I have never been too picky when it comes to food and their menu looks solid so I am going to keep my hopes up. Luckily we know they can’t really screw up a cold beer.
I could really break down the new Ogden menu, but it’s geared more for the sports bar crowd compared to what BBT offers. We keep saying we need to go back there, but simply haven’t yet.
Agree with the it being hard to mess up a beer though

I don’t think I ever ate at a Benningan’s. My friend was hired at the Crystal Lake location as a waiter when we were 17-18 years old. He quickly was trained to tend bar, which was great because we then filled that bar until we were 21 and the placed turned into a steakhouse.
