Free golf for everyone!

@EConroy419 asks the real questions, but I think it’s a steal for the area.

depending on ease of getting on 3 times a week. I live 5 minutes away. Wish they had a short game practice area like my old place (Mchenry CC) and walkability are the biggest draw backs.

Say the average round w/cart is $65 out there, it would take 27 rounds to break even. Not an impossible task with three rounds a week.

but… when you pre-pay you are incentivised to play more golf. Not like any of us need more of an excuse but when you get past those 27 rounds you are playing free golf.

Are there any additional perks that come with it? F&B discounts? Preferred tee times? Free range balls? If not, then this is probably the rare case where a straight rounds/mem-fee is the perfect way to evaluate it.

The pass at Downers Grove (9 hole course) is ~$1,100… I spent this much last year playing 1-2 times a week starting in March.

Downside is that once you have a pass you tend to play only the particular corse, as other tracks are now seen as costing extra money.

Benefit is playing 3-4 holes after work on weekdays.

Yeah, that was the other thing I should have asked. How much do you like playing other places, because once you buy the membership, you may not want to spend time/money elsewhere. I still haven’t played any of the DeVries courses in Grand Rapids, because despite driving through there a number of times each year, I’d always rather go play Kingsley, because lord knows I’m paying for it.

Update: Do not go up to the front desk at five iron and ask for Abe Froman

Everyone knows you ask for the sausage king.

Range mats all season long. That’s gotta be worth something.

If you ever need a guy to fill out a group, I hear that place is special.

Dude that organizes the Michigan trip I go on is a member there but I missed to chance to play last year.

It has been special. Just sold a few days ago, so we’ll see if the new owners can keep from screwing it up.

Should we cyber bully this guy until he joins the real Second City Golf Club?

Kingsley sold?

Appreciate the feedback. I’m from Louisville where we have some public tracks that meet the description of your park district courses. Will check out all of these places.

No offense on the weather. Some years here we can play in shorts in February then not play first few weeks of April because it’s 35 and windy.

I moved here from NC about a year and a half ago. Never thought I would play in the 30s or 40s but quickly learned I needed to for a decent golf season.

All about layers and walking on the course.

Yep. Escalante Golf. No idea on terms or what this means for current members. Just got the email last Friday.
