Golfvisions stinks.

Quite possibly the worst thing about Chicagoland golf is Golfvisions.

Their players pass seems perfect for any broke college kid tho. Wish I knew about it then.

As someone who worked at mill creek before I closed I definitely saw this coming. I was just surprised it took 2 years to reopen under another budget mgmt company

I never played there but some people online are posting reviews saying they’ve seen the place be maintained for the past two years. Hopefully it opens in semi-decent shape even if it’s a shit management company.

Legit kinda pumped to go try it out.

Heard it’s “quirkier” than Tanna…which is SICK

Been a few years, definitely was quirky. “No drivers allowed” on a par 4 is a rule one can attempt.

I get asked about that rule a lot. It was something the developer created after a homeowner through the fairway took legal action. Was never enforced but sometimes the signs would show up.

God if you look at the portfolio tab on the GolfVisions website its like the greatest hits of ancient courses that have not been good in like 20 years or ever and extremely boring housing development courses.

Then there are Foxford and Oak Grove which feel like LeBron on the '06 Cavs.

Who’s up to design the mega routing? there was talk about making the MC clubhouse the “Main” one and run both courses from one clubhouse. Red being Tanna and White being MC. Tanna would start on MC 1 and cross to current TF 5. MC would start on hole 3 since that was the Old 1 before they took out the 2 origonal holes on the front

While we’re here discussing shaggy golf courses…

Highland Woods rocks and I’m not afraid to say it. Technically a Cook County course but I think it’s run by Billy Casper Management. Very pedestrian front 9 that really comes alive on the 6th hole, par 5 that bends around a pond. If they could put a little more slope in the greens and speed them up a bit the course would be a fun challenge for a low cap trying to shoot three or four under, and at nearly 7k yards it has the length for better players. Course is already wide open enough for a newb to get around without losing a ball.

Back 9 has some super gettable par 5s and two downhill, nearly drivable par 4s (16 and 18). Unfortunately it’s a slow play bonanza and a 5 hour round waiting to happen.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

This is a GREAT take.
Never a bad round out there. Fun but a decent challenge.

Best part? They have golf boards. No shame.

They’re doing they’re best to fuck up Foxford too.
Traps have been a nightmare for a few seasons and they haven’t let you hit off grass on the range for 2 years.

Vince v. Foxford Hills management is a tale as old as time.

Is this a Nintendo game?

Anecdotally, I feel like I’ve seen this a lot more recently at my local haunts. With a huge influx of new golfers, range grass is at a premium for most places, and it’s getting chopped to hell with no chance of recovery week in week out. Mats are trending for year round use.
