Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 1)

Anybody looking to get out earlier on Sunday? Could head down to Kankakee for some slightly warmer temps…

Just booked 2 for 8:50 tomorrow morning at MP if anyone is interested in joining.
My buddy Dan and I are playing.

The Night Rangers

Following up on this, figured it was time to put it out there and get a list going to see where it goes. Post bedtime any day except Friday/Saturday is fine by me.

Just giving a slightly early shout-out: My wife and I will be in the Chicago area for all of July and at least a week or August, and I’m definitely hoping to meet and get a few rounds in with some of you fine folks! My wife plays as well (but is still learning the game) so she may also be looking for a few rounds as well. My wife’s family is in Bridgeport, but we will be roaming all over while we are there.

In related news, the AirBnB we booked just cancelled on us*, so if anyone here is connected to any good places we can rent for the month of July, I’m all ears.

*Apparently they had no issues pre-COVID, but since then they had problems with a bunch of guests partying too hard and turning violent, and are turning their gatehouse into a regular rental property.

I’m in man. I think they extend their hours May 1 as well. Any weeknight after 8pm or so works for me.

Playing MP at 10am tomorrow with my old
man, 2 spots available online if anyone wants to join us.

Back from a wonderful week of PTO in the Arizona desert and looking to get back on the golf course. Anyone playing this weekend? I have a free round at Mt Prospect that co-worker gifted but am down to play anywhere.

I got a tee time at 7am on Saturday at Big Run in Lemont with 2 friends. So there is a 4th spot open if you want to call the course.

Though I admit it’s pretty early for a weekend round.

Oof, let me ponder that one for a little bit. I do have a rain check for 9 at Big Run but might have to ditch the push cart for that course.

I think we are going to walk it. Last year I played there for the first time in pouring rain so I am looking forward to it being hopefully somewhat dry.

How highly do you guys rate Pine Meadows for area courses? I’m playing it tomorrow and my buddy is convinced it will break my top 5. I highly doubt it though. Might as well post my top 5. Also Blackstone looks really good I want to get out there.

  1. MP
  2. Shepherds
  3. Highlands
  4. Bowes
  5. Ravi

I don’t think it’s better than any of those.
It’s good, but not amazing.

I would play all your top 5 except Bowes before playing Pine Meadows. Course layout is very good but the green speeds can be like shag carpets making the experience pretty lousy.

Pine Meadow is actually an old William Flynn course that was build for the archbishop of Chicago way back in the day. Some of the routing and greens are still there but most of it has changed. A few good holes but nothing great, wouldn’t put it in my top 10 public around here.

Your list is really solid though, would recommend kankakee elks, ravines, and thunderhawk
