Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 1)

Do you like walking?

Do you like sub-5 hour rounds?

Do you like fairway approach shots not blocked by trees?

Then Fox Lake is not your type of golf course.

Got affected by the frost delay yesterday. Luckily since we had an 8:20 tee time we were one of the first ones out on the course around 10. First frost delay I’ve experienced this year. Feel bad for the guys who has afternoon tee times because they probably didn’t get 18 in.

Truth.

That was us at Foxford Hills yesterday, but THANKFULLY pace was 4hr 10min and we got 18 in. Was a little grouchy they still charged us the full $73 during fall, but the course was in surprisingly good shape

I was expecting to see more courses charging full freight through the fall. It seems like places pushed green aeration to the latest possible time to capitalize on the 2020 boom and avoid making less off punched fees. (Or you could be like cog hill and not even offer a punch discount lol)

Hawks View is my regular!

It’s good but not $50 good. There are a couple holes that are ruined by trees and some bunkers that need some serious TLC, but it’s an interesting course with many memorable holes after 1 play and has great topography for this area.

Did @TheAbeFroman have anything to do with this?

Who had “Russian oligarch killed with medieval weapon” on their 2020 bingo card?

I think that was the free space.

Golf Instructors in Chicago

I’m sure this has been asked before but wanted to get an updated opinion. I think it is time for me to see about some lessons. I saw the post about Golf 312 and they seem like they have decent rates. I know there is a lot to be said about having a golf coach you can get along with rather than just get instructions from.

Does anyone have any suggestions on who I could go check out? I live in the Loop and don’t mind a drive but would rather it be close by.

Kindest Regards,
Seth, “A Golfer in Need of Change”

The highest of recommendations for John Andrews at Pine Meadow.
Super chill “West Texas” vibes, really focuses on just one or two swing thoughts, and doesn’t reinvent the golf swing. A big reason why my short game/wedge game is the most confident thing about my golf game.

He’s also at the Buffalo Grove dome in winter

I used to work at the BG Golf Dome. John is one of the best swing coaches in the area. Helped me out with my swing without even asking and really knows what he’s doing!

@JBors Did you have experience at Golf312? I saw post earlier as well.

I started using the BG dome last year, so that works, but I’m really close to Golf 312.

I did, but I guess the guy who ran it sold it to someone else and moved to Colorado or some shit so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the new guy.

I enjoyed Ravisloe on my first trip, even after they received a deluge. I can’t complain about my drive out there though from Streeterville…early tee time + outbound drive + during the Vid = 35 min drive time

Gorgeous morning out at Mt Prospect. Basically had the entire place to myself. November golf is the best.

Anyone looking to get out tomorrow for totally normal reasons (and not because they can’t tell if they’re having one long panic attack or several small, successive ones)?

I’m jealous. I’m playing out there tomorrow and the place is booked up.

Count me in.
