Lol I made fewer birdies and fewer doubles today
Mr. @fullbodyfix struck it very nicely today. Pay ze man hizzzzz moneyyy. Dryden Park doesn’t take any prisoners in the May breeze. I literally can’t believe two guis have made the trip from Sf to Modesto in the span of four days. What a treat.
Quite rude of @fullbodyfix. He did the same thing to me when I got him up in this neck of the woods, posting an 81 on a tough track.
After taking my hard earned $$, he did buy me a drink though.
Guis throwing this out for those who are interested or know someone interested. The Billy Bell Cup is on for June 18-19. A mid am and senior event. Played at scratch, 7 handicaps and below. An NCGA points event at a GREAT course in Modesto, Del Rio CC. Message me if interested.
So I’m on North Wood’s site right now and I don’t see anything saying it’s residents only… is that still a thing?
ya the site looks different from when I was looked a couple days ago I don’t see it
Anyone want in at The Bridges on Monday at 3pm? Got space for 1
Left a message still waiting a call back. Last it was left off he blocked off the times but there was supposed to be a follow up with someone else. Will keep your all posted
Thanks @bagger. Good job, good effort. Keep us posted.
Did you end up playing? I have heard horror stories about the layout at The Bridges.
It’s for this coming monday! What did you hear about it? I thought it was one of the better public courses in the area
Played there once, super nice facility, great conditions, but its the very much target golf. If I were better, I’d play there again for the challenge for sure.
Harding was great today. Only letting twosomes out and only walking. We were the third group off and played in 3.5 hours. Rough is long and fairways narrowed some. Greens are in great shape but a little slow. I was able to keep it in the fairway most of the day and had a great time.
I detest The Bridges but if you are a really good golfer your mileage may vary. There’s nowhere to miss. If you land on the wrong side of the fairway your ball is likely to roll into a ravine - on both sides. To me it’s just not a fun course at all but I know many who love it. Sure that you’ll have a good time
did they have grandstands/hospitality tents up? I’m assuming they already started construction on stuff like that
Yeah they had a bunch of grandstands up. It seemed to me that they may have building it back in February and March and then stopped at some point.
My club opened on Tuesday…great to get out for a couple of rounds already. Playing again next week with boys, and then going up to Northwood on Saturday to play with some friends. Hope they don’t check residency, as none of us are Sonoma County (or whatever county that is) residents.
Please update on if Northwood is keeping it to Sonoma only.
Quick update on some courses I played this week:
Crystal Springs: as mentioned by @TheChairman, rough was grown, but not out of control. Holes are using foam inserts, range is open, putting green closed. Greens aren’t rolling but play pretty true.
Metropolitan GL: grass range open, putting greens closed. Holes are raised above ground level and greens punched recently, 85% recovered.
Cinnabar Hills: Grass range and putting greens all open. Foam inserts into cups. Course was in immaculate shape. Greens rolling well and course was well maintained.
Poppy Hills: Range was closed, putting green open. The greens were not rolling that fast but the course was in such great shape. If the greens rolled a bit better, would be amazing. Foam insert in cups to let ball drop.
Poppy Ridge: Range closed, putting greens open. Be careful that they’re only allowed carts every second hour (I.e: 8-8:50 carts, 9-9:50 walking only, 10-10:50 carts, etc). Was a tough walk in 95 degree weather. Greens were pretty slow here also but the course was in great shape. Pool noodle raised above ground, ball doesn’t drop in.
Next weeks lineup:
Monday: The Bridges
Tuesday TBD
Wednesday: Spyglass with @theHamburglar and @anon47037505
Thursday: Corica Park South
Friday: Deep Cliff GC
