Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

Good looks. Have a favorite of the bunch? Havnt played much golf in sac

If I had to pick it would be Haggin probably, the Makenzine course not the Arcade. Dry Creek also is not to bad and you can ride there still. Not the best kept course but it’s a good challenge. Decent greens. Haggin is solid but I just have not been happy with how it’s been run past 2 times I played it

All Sac City Courses are open - haggin, Bing, Bartley cavanaugh, William land.

Played Bing yesterday. Greens were pretty good! Firm. Course was good and it was nice to get out.

Thanks for sharing!

I know I’m relatively new to the refuge, but thought this was worth sharing.

I’ve hosted a regional golf podcast for the past few years and my co-host shouted out @GremlinGolfer in this week’s episode, despite the fact that I have never met this seemingly fine gentleman, I only recognized his name from the refuge. Anyways, this is not meant to be a shameless plug of any kind, just thought it was funny and you guys might get a kick out of it. He shouts him out somewhere around the 36:00 mark.

Podcast on Spotify & iTunes

Hope you’re all staying sane and safe out there everybody.

Have they been crowded at all? Play Foxtail a couple weeks back and it was quite crowded even super late

foxtail doesnt have holes cut it seems a lot of courses have plugged their holes since closing gates.

Ok NorCal guis.
My colleague and I working on a project I’m pretty stoked about. I’ll give the overall gist but what I’m looking for is suggestions of courses (besides the obvious pebble / private etc) where this might work.

SF Custom Golf Experience
Small group of golfers come for a long weekend. Get Titleist Performance Institute Eval, chiropractic / rehab / stretching treatments and take home exercise / mobility prescriptions and obviously play some sick rounds of golf.

Looking for a club that has a teaching pro, ability to host the group for a few rounds, practice facility and something that would draw in outsiders to the area (kind of bucket list course adjacent without being too out of reach - maybe like a Pasatiempo…).

Any ideas?

My buddy threw out Cordevalle in hollister. That kind of vibe maybe with hotel on site could be pretty sick. Like Half moon?

Just early planning stages.

This description make anyone think of a place? I’m all ears.
Thanks

Are you guys talking about Foxtail in Santa Rosa? It’s still open?

Actually, it might be worth it (for some, at least) if we did keep a note here about what, if any, Bay Area public courses are open. Separate discussions about who would feel comfortable playing, etc., but I have no idea of any open courses near me, and I’m eager to find out.

I think you already mentioned it – HMB. Nice that it has two courses. I’m guessing you can get group rates at the Hotel that make it more financially accessible (in addition to the inevitable softening of hotel prices following this economic meltdown).

I don’t think the course is great, but maybe Windsor? You’d have the draw of being in the wine country, the range is good, and they have a decent chipping green that could be closed off for just your group.

I’d set you up with my pro to have a discussion, but our practice facility sucks ass.

Def interested in some wine country suggestions. IDK much in the napa area other than silverado and I played Eagle vines once… I’ll take a look at Windsor thanks

Amador County has amazing wineries. Honestly I like that area more then Napa. They take time to explain the wines and are way more affordable where you can go to way more places and get just as good if not better quality.
