Thanks! Baylands popped up on my radar as an option but not Cinnabar. It looks like a pretty good option too. I’m certainly up for the occasional weekend ‘away’ round but I’ll need a home for my golf fix Mon-Fri.
I’ll keep an eye on this thread and shout out again if I end up taking the job!
Yo @golfcsty absolutely come down and hang out! The South bay is an amazing spot. Im very biased towards Baylands, as im on the board of the Palo Alto Golf Club, and we have a very active Club. The RACDG Norcal chapter is some of the best folks in the area, and traveling up to play different courses in the area is so great, you can always get a game.

Short notice, but heading up the bay tomorrow and last meeting cancelled. Going to play Corica North to get a look at the course. Lil prep for chunks at the chuck, if anyone is around I’m going to be playing around 2:30. Tee sheet is wide open.
Not sure if this is a good place to look for someone in Monterey. Heading their Saturday- Tuesday trying to see if anyone was interested in playing one of the non resort courses?
Wanted to drop in here and garner some recommendations/suggestions for Memorial Day Weekend. I will be flying into SFO that Friday night. Only things certain I have on my itinerary is an A’s game on Saturday or Sunday and the Memorial Day mid-day Giants game at Oracle with the better half (she’s working a flight for Delta coming into SFO Sunday night, so I am having a solo weekend before she gets in on a long layover)
From my early research, a couple of thoughts on golf: Maybe Corica the day I go over to Oakland Coliseum? Also, Presidio? Northwood intrigues me, but is it worth the drive from SFO area hotels?
Wanted to save Pasatiempo for a planned trip next year (only having nine holes open also made that decision a little easier).
Youve done your research, thats for sure. absolutely should play corica north, south if you have time. great 27 holes (please chant Sell the team at the game, as a favor to all A’s fans) as for the SF side of things, presidio is the spot in the city imo, harding is way overpriced for out of towners. northwood is a magical place, but it is a decent drive. You can also hit russian river brewing up there so thats a very nice day
If you’re going to try for Corica South the day of the A’s game you’ll need to book early since that’ll be a 1:07pm game, but it’s doable if you’re willing to pay the advance booking fee (it’s a little egregious tbh but on a holiday weekend there aren’t likely to be a lot of available spots if you wait for 7 days out).
The North (9-hole course) is usually a little easier to find a spot.
Whatever you opt for, eat at Jim’s on the course before heading over to the Coliseum - great food and tbh the concession situation over at the Coliseum is a tough scene.
On your other day if you’re staying in the city, you can’t go wrong with Presidio. The other public track that visitors like to hit up is Harding Park, but the non-resident rate is egregious and a lot of locals here would rate Presidio more highly. If you only have time for 9, the newly renovated Golden Gate Park is getting rave reviews.
The Bodega Bay/Northwood double is pretty fun, too. Bodega is a quirky, hilly 18 on the coast that’s about 25 minutes from Northwood. Though first time at Northwood, you probably want to do a double loop. #2 green is so awesome, I could play that hole over and over again. And as a first timer, getting to experience the course in the morning vs the afternoon is worth it. The 7th is great, too - shape it between the trees and the have an approach into what looks like a grove of trees to a sneakily tiered green.
Corica is a fun 27 hole day. South is a solid course, North is a fun nine with lots of scoring opportunities.
Presidio is a fun track, lots of good stuff going on there. Also worth considering Harding Park. It’s a pricey out of town rate but it’s a great public course with a lot of history. It’s a great setting and it’s a fun walk among the Monterey Cypress trees (I’d recommend Harding over Presidio if money isn’t an object).
I’d also look at Half Moon Bay Ocean. It’s a fun Arthur Hills track that’s South of the City that has some great scenery along the Pacific Ocean. It’s a little expensive but there’s a lot of fun holes and the last three holes take you along the cliffs above the beach by the ocean. Super cool course with the usual Arthur Hills quirks (weird par 5s).
Personally I’d go with Harding, Presidio or Half Moon Bay Ocean if you’re only playing a few courses. Northwood is a fun course but I wouldn’t put it above the public options closer to SF.
@NotADoctor obviously not a fan of The Good Doctor.
Conditions at Corica and Harding are going to be much better than Northwood. Hearing some concerning things about Presidio lately, though it’s still one of my favorite Bay Area courses.
