Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

if anyone is local to the Monterey area, I’m likely to squeeze in 9 tomorrow around 5pm. my folks just relocated up here full time and I’m doing some dogsitting/taking advantage of my surroundings. Was thinking poppy but am amenable to PG (which I love as much as the next guy but I went out yesterday and it seems the storms have caused it to see some better days :face_with_diagonal_mouth:)

anyway, open invite. I may be from LA but I promise we’re not all bad. I’ll be up here quite a bit and would be cool to meet some norcal folks!

I can’t make it today, but how long are you in the area? Poppy twilight is amazing. Blackhorse/Bayonet also have a good twilight deal.

Sorry, meant to say can’t make the rest of this week, but next week I am open.

no problem; i’m leaving this thursday for a golf trip to jacksonville and returning sunday. haven’t decided when i will drive back to LA on the return, so next week may be possible.

Well have a good trip. Let me know if you are around next week and we can get out.

Can’t really find good answers on their websites and thought I’d ask here tonight before calling later this week when they’re open.

Coming home for the first time in 5 years and looking to spend a day in Monterey playing golf. Ideally The Hay in the morning and Pacific Grove in the afternoon. How early can day guests make reservations for The Hay and how early should I call Pacific Grove?

thank you and will do!

Idk about the hay but Pac grove should be super easy. Looking now you could get a Saturday afternoon tee time this weekend on Golfnow

more local people correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you can book pretty far in advance. If you’re playing on a weekday, you may not even to worry about advance booking. Last two days I have been able to walk on and play 9 in under an hour and half walking at around 5pm. Maybe midday is a little more crowded but I would guess not.

If you grew up playing the hay and haven’t been back since, I would temper some expectations. It may look nicer than it was but at 4x the old price, I find it hard to justify the expense. The restaurant there is legitimately good, though.

You have moved from one great golf location to another. Would love to have lived in either.

Just call this number, tell them when you wanna play. They’re really easy to work with at PB/The Hay

Coming back to the Bay Area, home used to be San Bruno but the parents moved to San Jose a few years ago.

Have never played The Hay before but this may be the only PB course I ever play, so I’ll bite the bullet and pay the fee.

We have 7 tee times, some fun competition, hopefully a beautiful sunset over the bay. 1:00 tee times. $115.

Ping me if interested. Berkeley CC is sick.

Hey NorCal gang – I’ve got a work trip to Stanford this weekend. Coming in Thursday and playing Harding Park that afternoon on a hot deal, then looking for a round on Friday, morning or early afternoon. Was gonna pull some string to try to play the Stanford course but they are hosting the Pac-12 tournament, so options (I haven’t played any of these courses – I think the only NorCal golf I’ve played was at Half Moon Bay, but I’ve got most of Friday to kill so I am willing drive a little bit for a good experience – what’s the play here?):

  1. Presidio at 7:20 a.m.
  2. Go up to Bodega Bay
  3. Go down to Pacific Grove or something down that way
  4. Corica Park or Monarch Bay, something on the East side
  5. Is there anybody in this group who is playing Friday and has an extra spot? I just need to be at Stanford by 7 p.m.

I would suggest 2 loops at Corica north, which is currently only 9 holes. That course is firm, fast and absolutely sick. We did 3 loops there for our main Roost event last month.
