Dude, I can get that. Do they need to be members at the club though?

Hey Bay Area,

I’m coming down from Seattle next week to visit my parents in Redwood City. Bummed I wasn’t able to come down for the Chunks…but hoping to tee it up with some of y’all soon, maybe next week?

Thinking I’ll get out T-W-Th for morning rounds, something like Crystal Springs, HMB, Corica.

  1. Suggestions on other courses to play (need to be back mid afternoon so not able to hit the Monterrey Bay courses)?

  2. Anyone wanna tee it up?

All the best,
Roger

I’d avoid crystal springs. I mean its an ok course if you like 23 hour rounds.

Corica is generally great, it seems like they’ve struggled to maintain conditions a bit. Extremely difficult to get a morning time for a group.

From Redwood City, my list would be:

Baylands - gotten pricey, but still a great example of a revamped muni-ish course. It’s in Palo Alto, so extremely close RWC.

Corica North - would would be worth a visit - “Like a combination of the Old Course and Sweetens” - Tron. Only 9 holes. The South is great, as well, but like @marklemcd it’s tought to secure a tee time.

Monarch Bay can be a slow round, but weekday is probably ok. Apparently a local favorite of Mike Keiser.

Moffett Field - I never hear anyone on here talk about it, but it’s a pretty fun course down on the old base in Mountain View, so very close to RWC.

HMB is always great.

If you wanted to venture a little further South, Cinnabar is great, as well, but might not be a guarantee to get by by mid afternoon.

Also, didn’t mean to exclude the city courses, but I haven’t played Sharp or Lincoln (huuuge hole in my resume) and Harding is $$$$$. Presidio is cool for me, but gets mixed reviews around here.

This and Deep Cliff were the courses I grew up on. Moffett was a dog track when I was a kid but it was like $8 for kids and $15 for adults, so that’s where we played  Conditions are much improved post renovation/face lift. I believe Google controls it as part of the ground lease it has for Moffett from the Government?

Yes, Google has improved the conditions quite a bit from what I understand. I didn’t play it pre-Google. The conditions are pretty good for a $40ish midweek round.

HMB ocean yes. To echo a few others, skip Crystal and go to Baylands. Truly one of my favs and it’s real close. Great am round.

I could join you wed am potentially.

Corica South is difficult to get a morning tee time on the weekend, but he’s talking weekdays so he’d be fine.

Usually closed Tuesday for maintenance though.

When I was a wee lad, my mom would drop me off at Deep Cliff and head to work a few times during the summer. That might be a good pick for a memory lane loop.

I’d be down for Baylands. Let me know when you know!

Nice, when did you play out there? I worked and played out there in high school ('99-'03).

A little bit before then.

1979-81.

links card guests no longer get the links card rate FYI, just the palo alto rate. they sneakily changed that this year
