Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

If you tee off at 1:30 you’ll probably finish at sunset/dusk. I’d guess you’re looking at 4.5-5hr round, no worse.

That’s an awesome event. I did GGP and Gleneagles on a day before my flight one a few years back. Good stuff, apart from the fact that it was unseasonably hot and walking Gleneagles kicked my ass.

Hello friends! I’m coming to Monterey from NC this December 21-25 with family. Bringing my clubs and playing with a couple members at The Preserve Golf Club. Also looking to get a round or two in at a public track. Thinking Pacific Grove (thanks Tourist Sauce) to play on the Pacific and not lose a financial arm and a leg in the process.

Wondering if anyone would like to join me? 28-year old golf sicko who isn’t good (15-handicap) but loves to walk and play the game. Also here to hear any recommendations outside of Pacific Grove. Thanks for any advice.

Cheers and crack on.

Back nine at PG is hard to beat for the price. You’re not going to get ocean views any better or cheaper. Outside of the pebble properties, a lot of people like Poppy Hills. Though, we get a nice discount as NCGA members, so not sure what it normally runs. It’s a great walk in the Monterey forest.

I am off work that time of year and we don’t have family obligations, so keep me posted. Not out of the question to come down from SF :+1:t3:

Holy cow, wouldn’t have guessed that Pasatiempo would be on GolfNow. But, can you really finish a round these days starting at 2:20? And who the hell would pay $325 for a 4:30 pm tee time?!?

Hey @leric90 Mark Allison used to be in F&B at your course, right? He was just brought in to be my boss back here in Indiana.

I’ve seen NCGA membership recommended before, even if only coming on a golf trip, so it may be a pretty good deal.

Oh i’m not sure, I can ask? I dont think he was when I joined :frowning:

Awesome. I looked at Poppy Hills but I’m definitely wanting to play some holes right on the coastline. I’ll do some more looking and see what an NCGA membership might get me even if it’s just for one month or year.

I’ll reach out as it gets closer!

Keep me posted as well - not traveling anywhere until Christmas Day so I could be up to come down too.

I’m starting a swing speed training program and am looking for ideas on where I can measure swing speed progress in the south bay or peninsula (without a personal launch monitor).

Do the indoor nets at PGATSS have this? Mariner’s Point maybe? Any other ideas?

Just for full clarity, Pacific Grove is not “right” on the coastline in the way that Pebble Beach or Cypress Point are (i.e., the Pacific Ocean is not in play), but its still pretty darn close and certainly in view. Highly recommend.

I’ve played Pasa a number of times this year (and feeling very fortunate for it). My experience is it’s rare to finish in 4.5 hrs, but 5 hrs usually gets it done. However, there was one round I played where it was 5.5 hrs even though there wasn’t a special event. So you may want to bake in some leeway if you want to be certain to finish before dark.

Right right. Appreciate that. I wanna see the ocean baby! Sounds like Pacific Grove will accomplish that for me.

You can rent the bays at PGATSS by the hour and they give you all of that data.

You can also buy this for $230 and it is supposed to be v accurate in regards to SS

Have you played any of the 9s at the Omni down there? Heading down for a family thing next weekend. Playing the PGAW Dunes course Friday then looking to get a few 9s in Sat/Sun at or near the Omni. Thanks!

No Omni in my history books.

Anyone played Corica Park’s North Course (9 holes so far) yet?
