Roll Call: Atlanta - Players Ball 12/13 - Campout 3/15 - Stankonia 6/7

Hey y’all, my football team somehow keeps not losing so I’ll be in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl. I’ve never been to GA before so any recs for food or things to do around the stadium are appreciated. I figured there will be some other entertainment options given it’s New Year’s and whatnot, so let me know what’s worth seeing or skipping. Thanks!

Have you locked in accommodations?

@pclawson @kmart796 @tuck_mulligan @Slainte @WigerToods @mcervantes30 are very accomplished food and drink guis or frequent visitors to the dome.

Staying at the Marquis, which I think is the team hotel. Pretty close to the stadium.

Guard your stuff. That hotel is notorious for stuff getting stolen.

Why you doing me like this

Ya, my bad. Even thought of tagging you, but genuinely thought you gave up on the refuge a while ago. Haha.

Within a block of your hotel I would suggest going to the basement of the Hilton to get some tiki drinks at Trader Vic’s

ATLiens, I come in search of recommendations. We’re coming in April for ANWA and home-basing at Lake Oconee. Going to golf there a few of the days before heading to Augusta on Saturday.

Right now we’re planning on flying in Wednesday AM and I’m wondering about courses vaguely on the route between the airport and Lake Oconee. I see Brown’s Mill come up, sadly Bobby Jones and especially The Fields are in the wrong directions. Looks like there are some housing development courses on the way to Lake Oconee (Honey Creek, Ashton Hills), a state park course (Hard Labor, what a terrible name), and other random public-ish sounding ones (Mystery Valley).

What courses would you all recommend checking out or avoiding?

Cherokee Run is a fun course besides hole 8. That needs to be fired into the sun.

The creek at hard labor is a cool state park course.

Both are heading towards Lake oconee not far off !-20.

How many people coming? Happy to host you at my course when y’all land if we can make it work (Rivermont Golf Club). Not exactly on the way but not too far off.

ATL! A few friends and I are coming down from pittsburgh in a few weeks for the Pitt - Georgia Tech game (11/22 weekend)… browsing through this thread for golf recs, I was going to have our pro up here try a few clubs I’ve seen mentioned, wondering what our best options are if we’re staying in Midtown? I also saw Bobby Jones is nearby as well - is that worth checking out? Any food / drink recs welcome as well - none of us have ever been to atlanta, excited to check it out!

For golf, Bobby Jones is probably your best option. Brown’s mill is my favorite city course and is a solid option. Chastain park isn’t far and is decent. If you got a car, West pines is like a 35-40 minute drive and is pretty cool spot.

A fun spot to go hang out for drinks and dinner is the westside beltline at West end. Boxcar at Hop city has really good food then there’s 3 breweries and an ASW whiskey exchange. There’s a food hall too close by. I don’t get to downtown/midtown Atlanta much and it’s a spot I met friends from the other side of Atlanta at…

I am most likely going to be at the GT-Pitt game. Still trying to nail down plans. There’s no a bad seat in Bobby Dodd and a great place to watch a game…

All sounds good - appreciate it! GT-Pitt should be a fun one, really looking forward to seeing Bobby Dodd

Likely moving to ATL in a few years. Any recommendations on a private club with affordable initiation and dues? We’d like to start our search for a home based on nearby courses, knowing our daughters live in Brookhaven.
