Finally got out to play BJGC today. Thanks @PurpATL and @4PuttLegend for showing me around.
This was a pretty cool, random, #GetInvolved experience - quickly booking a 9 hole round for after work today. See guys on the putting green with NLU headcovers, towels and koozies. What a place.
Fun round!
One checked off the bucket list this week. Honors then Black Creek.
I can only upload one pic??? Dumb
The Honors Course is awesome. Glad you got to spin it. Played it right around this same time last year and loved every second.
Playing Braelinn on Wednesday in a company outing. Anyone played it and/or know anything about it. Club corp isn’t giving me much.
Speaking of Club Corp joints…anyone on here a member at Brookfield? We play yall in a match this weekend.
I like it (but I also grew up on 10, so…). The second shot on 18 asks a lot of questions. Well maintained and decently walkable considering it winds through all the neighborhoods.
$10 use of putting green and $18 burgers coming to Charlie Yates?
Golf Course Renovations
East Lake Golf Club is excited to announce upcoming renovations to the Charlie Yates Golf Course and practice facility located in the historic East Lake community.
To assist in the golf course renovations, Charlie Yates Golf Course has hired Medalist Golf to oversee construction. In addition to converting all nine greens and the practice green from Bentgrass to Prizm Zoysia, the renovations will also include several tee repairs, cart path refurbishment, and a restoration of the practice tee on the north end of the practice range.
Work on the course will begin in late-May and will conclude by the first week of July when the grow-in process is finished. Upon completion, the course will offer exceptional putting surfaces that are much more heat, shade, and traffic tolerant. The new Prism Zoysia grass greens will offer a highly consistent putting surface year-round.
In addition to the golf course renovation project, Charlie Yates Golf Course has hired the architecture and design firm of Kuo Diedrich Chi to reimagine and expand the food and beverage operation at Charlie Yates and to renovate the interior of the Clubhouse. Work on the Clubhouse is expected to begin later this year and will be completed prior to the 2022 golf season.
An Agreement With Bobby Jones Links
East Lake Golf Club is also excited to announce that it has selected prominent Atlanta-based club management company, Bobby Jones Links, to manage the golf and food and beverage operations at Charlie Yates Golf Course as well as the renovation project.
“We are honored to support the operations of Charlie Yates Golf Course and bring our management systems, expertise, and resources in addition to our significant experience in golf course maintenance and renovations,” said Whitney Crouse, Founding Partner of Bobby Jones Links. “Charlie Yates and Bobby Jones were significant figures in golf, and we are proud to honor their legacy through this partnership.”
They even wanna gentrify our golf courses! just be happy someone wants to improve golf in Atlanta.
When are they going to put any of this money into JAW, Browns Mill, or Alfred Tup?
Hardest of passes going to play Yates.
One would hope the city courses would see the ROI BJGC is getting on their investment and put some money into the muni courses, but unlikely
The back 9 at browns mill could have some real Fields vibe if they tried just a little.
I will never ride harder for anything than that if you had like 2 million bucks BM could be an exceptional muni.
Seriously. Browns Mill is on a great piece of land.
Is Browns Mill worth checking out for $41 on weekends? Big difference between “it could be awesome” and “it is awesome.”
I wouldn’t describe it as awesome but it’s pretty good. If you live close it’s worth it. If it’s a drive try and make a day out of it. Go to Monday night or some other brewery after.
I think only @Weezer2 is tuned into the gospel of Sugar Creek. Been going out a couple nights a week because the twilight rounds there are awesome right now. $6-$8 to walk 9 holes. Get there after 6pm and you might only see 1 or 2 other people. After a few days of no rain the fairways run and the greens are in great condition on most holes. And it gets some great “mega-light” vibes out there
I tried messing around on the website, and it could be entirely user error, but I couldn’t get available tee times to display regardless of the filters I entered
It’s really fun to play.
Has a tough time after heavy rains. I wouldn’t go there for around a week of dry after what we’ve had this week!
Brown’s Mill is good. Was paired with the same random guy on back to back weekends recently. Needs the sugar creek treatment to be woke muni golf.
Sugar Creek is flying under the radar because the golf now and grint reviews and satellite imagery are pre-renovation. Only a matter of time before 5 hour rounds. Played Sunday at 8:00 and didn’t have folks in front or back.
Nary a ball pitch mark on the greens.
The range lighting looks expensive and new. Wish it was on the north side.
