What is the date of this event and where? My fourball partner and I may be able to make it!
@leftysauce do you guys still need one more AL group for The High Cotton Classic? Myself and another Refuge member may be interested in getting involved if that spot is still up for grabs.
I do believe so! That’d be yuuuuge
Count us in if that’s the case - let me know the best way to go about signing up or providing any information you might need.

Anybody here play Heatherwood CC in Bham recently? Saw that they have rates that appeal to my college student wallet and I’m tired of playing the local muni tracks. Just wanted to know how it’s playing and what to watch out for or if anyone would like to join me sometime, tentatively, next week.
Checking in. Long time fan of the NLU podcasts and videos, but have never “gotten involved.” Would like to do that and meet new golf buddies in general.
Live in Birmingham, started playing regularly about a year ago. Just joined Pine Tree after a year of weekly rounds at Highland Park.
Got several PineTree members in here… check out @Flatach2 he can get ya squared away to play to start with! Looking forward to meeting up

Thanks guys!
Would love to know what you think about Pine Tree. I’m considering joining after I finish up college at the end of the year or just doing an annual pass at Highland Park.
I’m liking it a lot so far, and actually did the annual pass at Highland Park last year so can offer some comparison.
Golf-wise, Pine Tree just has more to offer. Course is longer/has more variety of tees and holes, and feels much less claustrophobic than Highlands. Conditioning is great (although the greens are currently healing from disease). It is as walkable as HP, in that the layout works well for walking, but it’s hilly. I was warned a few times that tee times fill up fast, but it’s no different than public courses (I don’t have other private options to compare that too, but I hear other courses are similarly full). I can’t tell you (yet) any of the “community” benefits w/r/t golf, as I haven’t really gotten plugged in yet, but someone else here likely can.
I also have three young kids, and our family has been enjoying the pool, and my wife has enjoyed the modest workout room. Excited for the kids to have a golf home when they’re a bit older.
Have you played the course? Would be happy to play with you.
Okay cool that doesn’t sound bad at all. I’m only considering HP is because of price, conditions, length (I don’t hit very far), and the fact that it’s a 5 minute drive from home. I’ve heard great things about Pine Tree though. My dad got to play there a few times back in the late 90s/early 00s and my friend Maddy works in the pro shop.
And I have not had a chance to play it yet but would love to come play 18 with you sometime!
Anniston, AL checking in here. I need to get more involved in the Refuge so what’s up???
We’ve got some guys who play at Limestone Springs in Oneonta. We play events there from time to time as well. Be on the lookout and also check out our Roost, High Cotton Club. It’s a great group to play golf with.

I’m good friends with the F&B director at Limestone Springs. Been wanting to play there, it looks really good!
