Gunter’s Landing is a fun course. I played out there 2 weeks ago and it was in pretty good condition. I’ll actually be playing there this Friday and the following Saturday too.
We’ve got a big group of us that host tournaments once a month all around central AL and we’ll be wrapping up our season there on 11/19. It’s a Ryder Cup style event with 40 guys.
Yeah, you’re more than welcome to come join us! We play Feb-Nov with individual tournaments Feb-Oct and the Ryder Cup style event in Nov. We call it the Good Guys Tour and had our first full season in I believe 2017.
We normally have between 25-40 guys each month and play mostly around the Birmingham area but some north of town as well. I know that may be a bit of a drive but you’re welcome to join our Groupme where we sometimes get groups together outside of tournaments as well.
Lot of folks crowding in and around the High Cotton Club… borders are getting tighter but we’re standing firm (s/o @Douger23 for holding our northern lines strong)
Our Alabama guys deserve nothing but the best… All I’ve ever wanted is to make sure their community is served, so while my previous post was in jest, I would support whatever AL chose to do (no matter how heartbreaking it would be to lose some of our core)
Either way, I’m 1000% a proponent of realignment, let the Carolinas have each other and let the rest of the south do our thing. We’d rather travel to FL than NC and I’m sure they’d rather travel to SC than TN
All serious business, there is an event that is an extension of our Roost, The High Cotton Club, called the High Cotton Classic. It is a match-play bracketed event and we’re looking to get 8 or more guys to play in the Alabama bracket. The way it works, is you get a date range to play round 1 matches, and during that date range, you and your competitor decide on the venue, date, and time to play your match. After round 1, winners move on to round 2, and so on. If any of you would be interested in more information, please reach out. We’d love to have a full Alabama bracket and take our top finishers to the finals against Tennessee and Kentucky’s best. #GetInvolved I promise you’ll love it.
Not to mention all the great Swag that HCC puts together for the competitors! Last year’s classic had a group play stage then a bracket, so you are guaranteed more than one match. Winners receive even more prizes and gifts, other than the entry swag. It is well worth the price of admission!! #getInvolved
Ahead of our attempts to bring another High Cotton Classic to Alabama, we’re bringing our first Roost event of the 2023 calendar year to Limestone Springs on 1/7, with tee times starting at 10:00
Entry fee is $100 and includes golf, cart, range balls, and entry into the money game, skins, and closest to the pin competitons.
Sign up now through Unknown Golf at the link below, or reach out to join the Roost and we’ll get you dialed in on Unknown as a full Roost member
*Note: There are shifts at play within the NLU Roost world… We’ve gone to bat for you folks in Alabama, #getinvolved and claim your rightful place in the High Cotton Club
The field is set for The Overlook at Limestone Springs next week… Not to mention, we’re officially in the Deep South region join the High Cotton Club and our effort to claim SEC dominance against Peachtree and Splash
No - but I drove by the “Dothan National Golf Club” 2 nights ago and the driving range appeared to be lit up at night with Christmas lights on the yardage signs and it made me smile.
