Refuge Secret Santa - 2024: See you in November!

@HibernatingBear My plan was to wait until the last piece had arrived, but it may be a few more days, so I couldn’t wait any longer…

I’m thrilled to hear you’re enjoying your reading material!! Was pumped when I got your name and did plenty of digging to hopefully find something up your alley. That’s a lot of posts to read!

The Company is literally one of my favorite all-time books. It takes an investment of time at 900+ pages, but once you get into it, you’re hooked. Covers the entire history of the Cold War through 3 major fictional characters woven amongst real life historical figures and scenarios. I can promise learn a ton about the CIA/KGB and also find yourself subconsciously practicing your tradecraft as you go about your day. And actually typing this note makes me want to read it again. Hope you enjoy it half as much as I have!

And the Saint Rappeo book by @TheHurt was just too good. I saw it on the board and immediately saved it to an Amazon list as a possible SS gift.

And the last piece (still on the way) is both the one I’m most excited about…and the most anxious to see your reaction. It’s in the hands of the USPS at the moment.

Merry Christmas buddy!!

We’re on day 3 here of our mail carrier not picking up the pre-paid box… can’t even get it in the system for USPS to tell me it’s in transit, but going to be late.

tough scene, per usual for this thread. silly me for thinking a 250 mile straight shot would be easy for the USPS.

Zero chance it’s me, but a boy can dream.

Yeah, I keep looking at the mailbox hoping something is coming.

Then I remember my scummy self hasn’t even received the gift I am giving.

Mine was received and either liked or pretended to, so now I’m going to be impatient for whatever surprises are coming my way.

Remembering that shipping is a total mess is making things even more interesting.

“Hey you got a golf club.”

“Oh? I thought the blades I ordered were stuck in California”
USPS from Illinois

“It’s happening!”

First off, yikes:

Secondly, wow:

Golf cards of Pros that I may or may not share a first name with, who could say? No doxxing.
Tee and ball mark pack (super timely fitting considering I just bought Titleist clubs for the first time, shoutout YOTB)

An AUTHENTIC, ORIGINALLY PACKAGED, FOOT WEDGE:

“It’s not how you play the game, but how you win it” * chefs kiss *

And then…

“Oh is that an 8802 style?”

“No, I think I saw its a… WTF DOES THAT SAY WHAT I THINK IT DOES?”

YOTB is upon us friends! Let us rejoice and be glad in it! And whichever one of lunatics put this all together [@BadBrad you genius, you are now @GoodBrad] , this was fantastic, thank you thank you thank you.

Yes! It is done my friends. SS gift dropped off and placed in the hands of UPS today. No the prayers start…both that it arrives on time (DAMN you COVID) and intact (damn you rushing around town and not being careful with packing materials enough…or at all). The nice lady at the biZness shop said it should be there maybe Thursday, but by Friday. So fear not my targeted Refugee/ette. Your gift is on its way over/down/out/magnetic North/South/East/Westward towards you!

15 minutes of my afternoon just disappeared after I learned how to use “measure distance” on Google maps. Adds another layer of interest to everyone’s posts for sure!

Can confirm my SS gift has arrived. May be in the minority here but I am waiting until Christmas to open. A gui has to have principles in these trying times
