Refuge Secret Santa - 2024: See you in November!

You know what’s funny @pjsutherland is a good friend of mine gifted this travel decanter to me like 2-3 years ago, and I’ve just never used it. Just realized it’s the same company.

Well @tylersucks really is the best. Totally nailed the gift. I am so excited to try all the IPAs and the hot sauce sounds delicious. Adding some of my favorite candy was just a cherry on top. Can’t wait to use the RMR tees on Wednesday. The note was vey kind and as you can imagine I have had plenty of questions about my last name. Merry Christmas!

Just a heads up @rramsbo, you have one more piece coming. I realized while wrapping everything up it felt like I had grabbed an armful from a pantry and stuffed it in a box. It hasn’t even shipped yet, but I’ll share the shipping info when I get it.

Hah that is funny! A good friend of mine has one of those travel decanters and swears by it.

Aged&Ore seems to be focused on slow sustainable growth, which I appreciate for a DTC brand. Their line is pretty limited and feels like an integrated system rather than getting out over their skis and doing too much for too many needs.

Just @rhoback next time

Listen…did I want to carefully curate a custom gift that included hand-made, thoughtful items? Absolutely.

Did I dick around and wait too long to make that work? Also, absolutely.

So I did what middle-aged, middle-class guys do in a situation like that. I threw money at the problem and hoped it would fix itself. I spent a smidge over the recommended amount, but I am trying to buy some forgiveness here.

To my (eventual) giftee, I have paid for express shipping - but ended up with a delivery window of 12/21 - 12/28. I hope that I have not ruined your Christmas.

I probably could’ve paid for a trip to Bandon at this point with the number of times I’ve pulled this maneuver.

Do you want it filled out if you already shipped it has been opened and posted on the thread?

No that’s fine. It is mostly an attempt to proactively have shipping information if someone reaches out saying they haven’t received anything. Something new this year to see if it’s helpful.

Tracking says it’s been delivered! Or at least on the front porch. Hopefully no holiday pirates decided to be assholes.

Pirate shipped and away she goes.

Just put mine in the mail. Then realized I didn’t include the note with it. O well. Might be better with a complete lack of context.

Came home to this tonight

And in that pile of boxes was one from Sweetens Cove that I certainly didn’t order.

So if my Secret Santa sent this:

I very much appreciate it! It’s been washed and put to use already!

My bigger question is about the Diet Pepsi. Did it get delivered as a five pack? Did it get delivered as a six pack and the delivery person was like “I’m parched and I earned this”. Or is this some new Christmas tradition where if you leave a five pack of Diet Pepsi on your porch you get visited by Santa Fuller?

The Diet Pepsi 5-pack is a story…

We had groceries delivered this morning (yes, we are those people) and there were 4 of the 6 packs delivered. I was able to carry 3 of them plus the other bags inside and forgot about the 4th one. When we left the house to run some errands my wife ran back inside to get a cold Diet Pepsi from the fridge only to realize none of them were cold. Benefit of it being in the 40s here this morning, the remaining 6 pack on the porch was adequately cold so she grabbed one out of it. Now, you may be asking yourself “why didn’t she just grab the entire pack and bring it inside?” That’s a great question and one I’ve posed to her once we got home and I saw the 5 pack on the porch. She said “I was in a hurry so I just didn’t”. Not a great excuse but it is what it is.

My guy @Haymart absolutely knocked it out of the park a la Corey Seager against my Dbacks in the World Series.

I’ve joined the Maxfli Mafia this year and loving the Tours. Having my nickname on there is a fun treat and incentive to not lose any and leave my trace.

I had requested a book in the form and this one will be absolutely perfect. I’m excited to dive into it. I just started “A Case for Christ” the other week, so between that and this one, I have some solid material as I reinvigorate my faith journey.

My biggest non-golf hobby is ASU athletics and I am a big fan of all things Homefield apparel, so this retro ASU shirt is perfect.

The ball marker of my pup, Chaska, is unreal! No way I can use this as I’d be terrified of losing it but I will find a nice place to display this beauty.

Always appreciate stickers and tees. My Icarito sticker on my hydroflask (apologies to Yeti) is a bit faded so I’m glad to have a replacement for it now.

The letter explaining the thought behind each gift was incredibly kind and I appreciate the pictured sign off. The effort and thought put into these gifts is very much appreciated and just another example of what makes this community so special. I’ll for sure reach out if I’m in DFW and the invite is reciprocal if you’re ever in the Phoenix area. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Hayden!

Guise…Good evening and thank you for joining me. Many of you in this thread know me, may have cheered for me (at NIT #1 where I made the final…finishing T3 even though many of you said that it was a format that favored high cap players), liked or responded to my posts, now everyone of you has good reason to be critical of me. I want to say to each of you simply and directly that I am deeply sorry for my selfish and irresponsible behavior I have been engaged in. People want to know how I could be so stupid and selfish.

Well…I just am a complete doofus who waits til the last minute to do things. I’m kind of a slacker. Drives my wife crazy. There’s also a bit of paralysis by analysis. But it is a problem. I hope to fix it.

I received my gift a while ago. However, I told myself I would not open it until I got my shit together and got my gift off to my giftee. Well, it is now on its way.

And I have received an amazing gift. @Tommy_TwoPutts kicked to poo out of this gift giving thing. Checked ALL the boxes. Eagles…ND…WAWA!!! And to top it off, a personalized card featuring Philadelphia Elves playing football. In fact, I sport the Eagles socks as we speak, watching the game from my desk at work. So generous.

Kudos to you Tommy…you only needed one to sink this one!

Ps- this Natasha Lyonne Old Navy but drives me bonkers.

This is very nice @lazyjk as the world is preeeety odd sometimes.

Example A:

This box got delivered to my Mom today and is making out to be a very bizarre situation.

Her last name has not been Gregory in 30 years and she doesn’t know anyone from WI.

I made her take the box to the police (she lives in a small town) and after a X-ray they determined homemade cookies were inside. :woman_shrugging: but why and from who??!?!?!!!

The return address is also super weird and pulls up several random results.

Anyway, glad we have @lazyjk to verify addresses for us!
